Nicktoon Characters
Nicktoons is the brand name used by Nickelodeon for their original animated series. All Nicktoons are produced partly at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio and list Nickelodeon's parent company (Paramount Global) in their copyright bylines. Since its launch in the late 1970s, Nickelodeon's schedule incorporated animation produced by other companies. The channel did not invest in its own original cartoon series until 1989 when producer Vanessa Coffey visited Los Angeles to accept pitches from local animators. Geraldine Laybourne, the channel's then-president, greenlit three pitches for full series: ''Doug (TV series), Doug'', ''Rugrats'', and ''The Ren & Stimpy Show''. On August 11, 1991, the three cartoons premiered as part of a 90-minute block, becoming the first branded Nicktoons. Pinky Malinky
''Pinky Malinky'' is an American animated television series created and produced by Netflix. It is based on Chris Garbutt's animated short of the same name produced by Cartoon Network Studios Europe (now Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe), which was released in 2009. It marks the first collaboration between Nickelodeon and Netflix as well as the first Nicktoon to be produced exclusively for Netflix. The series chronicles the adventures of Pinky Malinky (voiced by Lucas Grabeel), a 12-year-old middle school student who also happens to be an anthropomorphic hot dog and his efforts to climb up the social ladder with his two human friends Babs Byuteman ( Diamond White) and JJ Jameson ( Nathan Kress). The series premiered on January 1, 2019. It was renewed for a second season ahead of the series premiere. Arlene Klasky
Arlene Phyllis Klasky (born May 26, 1949) is an American animator, graphic designer, Film producer, producer and co-founder of Klasky Csupo with Gábor Csupó. In 1999, she was named one of the "Top 25 Women in Animation" by ''Animation Magazine''. She is most known for her work with Nickelodeon in the 1990s and 2000s. She, along with her ex-husband Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain, co-created the animated series ''Rocket Power'' and the series ''Rugrats'' as well as the Rugrats (2021 TV series), 2021 revival series of the same name. Jim Jinkins
James Jinkins (born August 8, 1953) is an American animator, cartoonist, and children's author. He is best known as the creator of the animated television series '' Doug'', which was later the basis for a feature film. Jinkins also created '' PB&J Otter'', as well as several other shows produced by his two companies, Jumbo Pictures and Cartoon Pizza. Background and career Jinkins was born in Richmond, Virginia, and lived there during his childhood. His experiences growing up in Richmond would serve as an inspiration for the fictional town of Bluffington, Virginia, in the series ''Doug''. The special was an unsold pilot episode for a series, ''Tattertown'', about a place where everything discarded in the world came alive. It aired on the cable television network Nickelodeon. Ralph Bakshi
Ralph Bakshi (; born October 29, 1938) is a Mandatory Palestine-born American retired animator and filmmaker, known for his fantastical animated films. In the 1970s, he established an alternative to mainstream animation through independent animation, independent and adult animation, adult-oriented productions. Between 1972 and 1994, he directed nine theatrically released feature films, predominantly urban fiction, urban drama film, dramas and fantasy films, five of which he wrote.
