The Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum is a museum in Central, Hong Kong. It is located in Kom Tong Hall (), at 7 Castle Road, Central. After preparatory work undertaken by the Hong Kong Museum of History, the museum opened to the public on 12 December 2006 to commemorate the 140th birthday of the influential Chinese statesman Sun Yat-sen. Introduction Sun Yat-sen was a Chinese revolutionary statesman who had an instrumental role in the overthrowing of the Qing dynasty during the 1911 Revolution and the founding of the Republic of China. Sun had a close relationship with Hong Kong, where he received his secondary and university education, nurtured revolutionary ideas, and organised revolutionary attempts. He established the headquarters of the Revive China Society in Hong Kong in 1894, and regarded the city as an important revolutionary base. Cotton Tree Drive
Cotton Tree Drive () is a road running from Central to Mid-Levels, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. The road is famous for the Cotton Tree Drive Marriage Registry, a hotspot for marriage registration inside Hong Kong Park. It used to be known as Kapok Drive. The road starts from Harcourt Road and runs with flyovers over Queensway. It then drives uphill and ends in Garden Road with a branch to Kennedy Road. Hong Kong Park is a public park next to Cotton Tree Drive in Central, Hong Kong, Central, Hong Kong. Built at a cost of Hong Kong dollar, HK$398 million and opened on 23 May 1991, it covers an area of and is an example of modern design and facilities blending with natural landscape. History Part of the site was known as Cantonment Hill in early colonial days in 1841. At the upper part of the former location of the Victoria Barracks, Hong Kong, Victoria Barracks, built between 1867 and 1910, the barracks were handed to the government in 1979. Glenealy School, Glenealy Junior School occupied part of this site up until 1988. After the school vacated the site, the area was turned into the present park. Quarry Bay Park () is an urban park located in the Quarry Bay area of Hong Kong Island's Eastern District, Hong Kong, Eastern District. It lies between the waterfront and the Taikoo Shing, Tai Koo Shing housing estate, and covers around . The park is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Government of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Government. History Quarry Bay Park was planned by the former Urban Council in the 1980s on newly reclaimed land, in concert with major infrastructure development in the area, including the Island Eastern Corridor and the portal of the Eastern Harbour Crossing. Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery
The ''Alexander Grantham'' was a fireboat operated by the Fire Services Department of Hong Kong. It was named after Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Alexander Grantham. The boat has since retired from service and been replaced by other vessels. On 10 March 2006, the fireboat was successfully hoisted into its new permanent home in the Central Concourse of Quarry Bay Park, where it has been converted into the Fireboat ''Alexander Grantham'' Exhibition Gallery and was opened to the public as a museum in 2007, managed by Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
