Menudo (band)
Menudo is a Puerto Rican boy band formed by producer Edgardo Díaz. Referred to as the "most iconic Latino pop music band", they have been ranked as one of the biggest boy bands of all time by several publications, including ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'', ''Us Weekly'', ''Seventeen (American magazine), Seventeen'', and ''Teen Vogue'', being the only Latin band on their lists. The band had several radio hits during its career. They acted in a television film (1979's ''Leyenda de Amor'') and two feature films, ''Una aventura llamada Menudo, An Adventure Called Menudo'' (''Una aventura llamada Menudo'') and ''Menudo: La Película, Menudo: The Movie'' (''Menudo: La Película''), in three mini series entitled "I Want to Be", "It's for Love" and "Forever Friends" ("Quiero Ser", "Es Por Amor" and "Por Siempre Amigos") and another television mini-series named ''Panchito and Arturo'' (''Panchito y Arturo''). Miguel Ángel Cancel Vázquez (born June 28, 1968) is a Puerto Rican singer, actor and retired police officer who began his career with the Puerto Rico-based boy band Menudo. Roberto Alejandro Avellanet Negrón, known professionally as Robert Avellanet or Roba, is a Puerto Rican singer who was a member of '' Menudo'' from 1988 to 1991. His uncle is the famous Puerto Rican singer Chucho Avellanet. Biography Avellanet was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he became a teen idol across Latin America after being hired by Edgardo Diaz as a member of ''Menudo'' in 1988, alongside Ricky Martin. Angelo Garcia (born March 28, 1976) is an American singer of Puerto Rican descent, who was a member of Puerto Rican boy band Menudo from 1988 to 1990. Career A native New Yorker born in Brooklyn, New York, he barely spoke Spanish when he auditioned for a spot in the band Menudo after seeing a television commercial in Puerto Rico during a family vacation. After two years with Menudo, García parted with the band and signed with World Wide Entertainment. Biography Ruben Gomez was born in Brooklyn, New York, NY on April 25, 1974, of Puerto Rican ancestry. He began his career in New York at a young age, participating in television commercials for national companies such as McDonald's and Roy Rogers. Ramón Enrique Acevedo Kerkadó (born December 21, 1971, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican pop singer, actor, and visual artist who was a member of the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo.
