Members Of The 25th Knesset (2022–)
The members of the 25th Knesset were 2022 Israeli legislative election, elected on 1 November 2022 and sworn in on 15 November. Composition One Druze in Israel, Druze lawmaker, 29 women, 23 new Lists_of_Knesset_members, MKs and three openly gay MKs were elected to the 25th Knesset. The number of Arab citizens of Israel, Arab MKs was the lowest in two decades with 10 MKs. On 30 June 2024, the Israeli Labor Party announced plans to merge with Meretz to become The Democrats (Israel), The Democrats, with Labor MKs expected to become MKs for the new party; the merger was approved on 12 July. However, Likud MK and chair of the Knesset House Committee Ofir Katz denied the February 2025 request by Labor chairwoman Efrat Rayten to change the name of the Knesset faction to The Democrats and she withdrew it. 2022 Israeli Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Israel on 1 November 2022 to elect the 120 members of the 25th Knesset. The results saw the right-wing national camp of former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu win a parliamentary majority, amid losses for left-wing and Arab parties, as well as gains by the far-right. After the 2021 elections, the next elections had been scheduled for no later than 11 November 2025 according to the four-year term limit set by Basic Law: The Government. The thirty-sixth government, a national unity government formed between eight political parties following the 2021 elections, held the narrowest possible majority (61 seats) in the 120-member Knesset. It was founded in 1973 by Menachem Begin and Ariel Sharon in an alliance with several right-wing parties. Degel HaTorah
Degel HaTorah () is an Ashkenazi Haredi political party in Israel. For much of its existence, it has been allied with Agudat Yisrael, under the name United Torah Judaism. History Degel HaTorah was founded in 1988, as a splinter from Agudat Israel. Its establishment by Rabbi Elazar Shach was due to ongoing policy disputes with the Hasidic rabbis within Agudat Yisrael. In the 1988 elections, the party won two seats, taken by Avraham Ravitz and Moshe Gafni, and joined Yitzhak Shamir's coalition government. For the 1992 elections, the party allied itself with Agudat Yisrael, under the name United Torah Judaism. Although the party split shortly before the 1996 elections, they re-united for the elections. United Torah Judaism
United Torah Judaism (, ''Yahadut HaTora'') is a Haredi, religious conservative political alliance in Israel. The alliance, consisting of Agudat Yisrael and Degel HaTorah, was first formed in 1992, in order to maximize Ashkenazi Haredi representation in the Knesset. Despite the alliance splitting in 2004 over rabbinical differences, the parties reconciled in 2006, in order to prevent vote-wasting. In April 2019, the party achieved its highest number of seats ever, receiving eight seats. Itamar Ben-Gvir ( ; born 6 May 1976) is an Israeli far-right politician and lawyer who is serving as the Minister of National Security since 2025. Otzma Yehudit () is a Far-right politics in Israel, far-right, ultranationalist, Kahanism, Kahanist, and Anti-Arab racism, anti-Arab List of political parties in Israel, political party in Israel. National Unity or State Camp () is an Israeli political alliance made up of former IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz's Israel Resilience Party, former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot and MK Matan Kahana. The alliance was created to participate in the 2022 Israeli legislative election.
