This is a highly incomplete list of shootings in Sweden, ordered chronologically. Seventeen people were killed by firearms in Sweden in 2011, but by 2017, more than 300 shootings had resulted in 41 deaths and more than 100 people injured. By 2022, the number of deaths had risen to 60. *4 March 1961: Kungälv school shooting. A 17-year-old male shot seven students, killing one, and fled the scene. Kungälv School Shooting
On 4 March 1961, a mass shooting occurred at Thorild School in central Kungälv, Västra Götaland, Sweden, in which a gunman shot and killed one person, Per HÃ¥kan Altvall, and injured six others. It was the first reported school shooting in Sweden and one of the earliest in Europe. The memory of the murdered Per HÃ¥kan Altvall is kept alive in Kungälv via a stipend "awarded annually to one or a number of students known for good friendship and social support to students". Campus Risbergska
Campus Risbergska, formerly Risbergska Gymnasium and also Risbergska School, is the centre for municipal adult education in Örebro, Sweden. It was inaugurated in 2017. The school was founded as an elementary school for girls in 1863 and has since changed its name, focus, and buildings over the years. It became a municipal upper secondary school in various forms between 1931 and 2016. The school is now located in the Rosta district by the Svartån river in western Örebro. After the upper secondary school closed in 2016, the buildings were renovated and reopened on 9 November 2017 as Komvux under the current name ''Campus Risbergska''. Örebro School Shooting
On 4 February 2025, a school shooting occurred at Campus Risbergska, an adult education center in Örebro, Sweden. The shooter was identified as 35-year-old Rickard Andersson. As of 16 May 2025, the Swedish Police Authority appeared to close their investigation, saying the perpetrator appeared to have a suicidal motive for his attack. According to police, the perpetrator likely chose this specific school to attack because he had connections to Campus Risbergska.
