Örebro School Shooting
On 4 February 2025, a school shooting occurred at Campus Risbergska, an adult education center in Örebro, Sweden. The shooter was identified as 35-year-old Rickard Andersson. As of 16 May 2025, the Swedish Police Authority appeared to close their investigation, saying the perpetrator appeared to have a suicidal motive for his attack. According to police, the perpetrator likely chose this specific school to attack because he had connections to Campus Risbergska. He was enrolled there for some time but failed to keep up and complete his studies. Eleven people were killed, including the perpetrator, and six others were injured. Six people were hospitalised, and authorities initially warned there might be more casualties. According to Swedish prime minister Ulf Kristersson, this is the deadliest mass shooting in the country's history. Örebro ( ; ) is the seventh-largest city in Sweden, the seat of Örebro Municipality, and capital of Örebro County. Komvux (short for , literally ) is a form of secondary education for adults in Sweden. The government of Sweden allocates funds to the municipalities for this type of education. It is primarily intended for adults who did not finish primary or secondary school, or who did not achieve the grades needed for higher education. Lone wolf terrorism, or lone actor terrorism, is a type of terrorism committed by an individual who both plans and commits the act on their own.
