Lüdinghausen (Westphalian language, Westphalian: ''Lünkhusen'' or ''Lünksel'') is a town in Coesfeld (district), district of Coesfeld in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located on the Dortmund-Ems Canal, approx. 25 km south-west of Münster. Town parts The town of Lüdinghausen includes the village of ''Seppenrade'', where the ammonoidea, ammonite Parapuzosia seppenradensis was found in 1895. History Lüdinghausen was founded in the thirteenth century and received its first city charter around 1308. Transportation Lüdinghausen is situated at the Dortmund–Gronau railway, and has a train station (Lüdinghausen railway station). Vischering Castle
Vischering Castle () in Lüdinghausen, North Rhine-Westphalia is the most typical moated castle in the Münster (region) of Germany. This region has one of the highest German concentrations of castles, palaces and fortifications, Lüdinghausen having three by itself. The castle consists of outer defensive courtyard, defensive gateways, moat, drawbridge, main building and chapel. The sandstone walls, the red tile roofs as well as their reflection in the moat provide many harmonious views from the wooded surroundings. Vischering Castle was built by Bischop Gerhard von der Mark to counter the second castle built by the Von Lüdinghausen family. It became the seat of the Droste zu Vischering Family. Dortmund–Gronau Railway
The Dortmund–Gronau railway is an international railway connecting the eastern Ruhr district of Germany to Gronau, which was built by the ''Dortmund-Gronau-Enschede Railway Company''. History The ''Dortmund-Gronau-Enschede Railway Company'' (, DGE) began to build its line from Dortmund DGE station (later called Dortmund East station) to the east of the central city. As a result, its line had to cross the original Dortmund–Hamm trunk line of the Cologne-Minden Railway Company (''Cöln-Mindener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft'', CME). The first section to Lünen Nord station was opened on 25 November 1874 for passenger trains; the first goods trains ran a week later. Coesfeld () is a ''Kreis'' (district) in the northwestern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, west of the city of Münster. Franz Kamphaus
Franz Kamphaus (2 February 1932 – 28 October 2024) was a German Catholic prelate, bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Limburg. He was bishop of the diocese from 1982 after teaching pastoral theology and homiletics at the University of Münster. He was the only German bishop to oppose Pope John Paul II in the matter of counseling pregnant women in conflict situations. After his term ended in 2007, he took residence in the St. Vincenzstift, Aulhausen, a home for people with physical and mental disabilities, where he first served as priest. Karin Schnaase (born 14 February 1985) is a German badminton player. She represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
