Lilys are an American indie rock band formed in Washington, D.C in 1988. The only constant member is Kurt Heasley, with the line-up changing regularly. Several of the band's tracks have been used in television advertisements, including the band's biggest hit, "A Nanny In Manhattan", which reached No. 16 in the UK after being used in a Levi's advertisement directed by Roman Coppola.Strong, Martin C. Beth Sorrentino
Elizabeth Sorrentino is an American pianist and singer-songwriter from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She lives in Los Angeles. Suddenly, Tammy! In the early 1990s, Sorrentino, her brother Jay (drums), and high school friend Ken Heitmueller (bass) formed the music trio Suddenly, Tammy!. The band was signed by spinART Records, which released two EPs (''Spokesmodel'', ''El Presidente''), produced by Sean Slade, and a self-titled debut album. In 1992, the band was featured on the cover of ''College Music Journal''. That same year, Sorrentino contributed backing vocals to the debut album by The Lilys. Suddenly, Tammy! subsequently signed with Warner Bros. Records, for whom they recorded the album '' We Get There When We Do'', which was produced by Warne Livesey and released in 1995. ''...And This Is Our Music'' is the ninth studio album by The Brian Jonestown Massacre, released on October 7, 2003, on Tee Pee Records. It was re-released on A Records, packaged alongside the "If Love Is the Drug, Then I Want to O.D" single, and was distributed in the UK through Cargo Records. Reception AllMusic's Jo-Ann Greene called the album "the musical equivalent of a carnival fun house, one never knows what one will find upon opening the door". Missing tracks "The Wrong Way" and "The Right Way" appear only on the original pressing of the album. These tracks consist of short answering machine messages left for band leader Anton Newcombe. The first is left by Newcombe's obviously distraught friend, and the second is a far more consoling message from The Out Crowd's Sarah Jane. The Brian Jonestown Massacre
The Brian Jonestown Massacre is an American musical project and band led and started by Anton Newcombe. It was formed in San Francisco in 1990. The group was the subject of the 2004 documentary film called '' Dig!'', and have gained media notoriety for their tumultuous working relationships as well as the erratic behavior of Newcombe. The collective has released 18 albums, five compilation albums, five live albums, 13 EPs, 18 singles as well as two various-artist compilation albums to date. The bandname is a ''portmanteau'' of deceased Rolling Stones founder Brian Jones and the 1978 Jonestown Massacre. A rock band or pop band is a small musical ensemble that performs rock music, pop music, or a related genre. A four-piece band is the most common configuration in rock and pop music. In the early years, the configuration was typically two guitarists (a lead guitarist and a rhythm guitarist, with one of them singing lead vocals), a bassist, and a drummer (e.g. the Beatles and KISS). Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Jason Falkner (born June 2, 1968) is an American songwriter, musician, and guitarist who was a member of the bands Jellyfish, the Three O'Clock, and the Grays. Since 1996, he has released six solo albums, starting with '' Presents Author Unknown''. He is also a session musician and producer who has contributed to dozens of recordings by other bands and musicians. Early bands Falkner joined the Three O'Clock, as a guitarist (and composer of one song) on their final album ''Vermillion'', released in 1988 on Prince's Paisley Park Records label.
