Kolossos Rodou B.C. (Greek: Κολοσσός Ρόδου K.A.E.), known as Kolossos H Hotels for sponsorship reasons, is a Greek professional basketball team that is located on the island of Rhodes, in Rhodes City. Kolossos currently plays in the top-tier level of Greek professional basketball, the Greek League. The club was founded in 1963, and also initially featured sports like volleyball and judo in the early 1980s. Today, the focus of the Greek athletic club is on the franchise's men's basketball department. History Early years Due to geographical isolation, and very small financial abilities for most of the club's history, the basketball team was not able to compete at a high level for many years, and was not funded properly. Vassilis Fragkias (alternative spellings: Vasilis, Fragias; born 24 August 1961) is a Greek former basketball player and professional basketball coach. Playing career Fragkias played club basketball with the Greek club Zografou. The 2011–12 Greek Basket League was the 72nd season of the Greek Basket League, the highest tier professional basketball league in Greece. The 156-game regular season (24 games for each of the 13 teams) began on Saturday, October 22, 2011, and ended on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. The playoffs ended on June 2, 2012. The championship was held without the presence of Panellinios that withdrew because of economic problems. So the championship was held with only 13 teams. FIBA Champions League
The Basketball Champions League (BCL), also commonly known as the FIBA Champions League, is an annual professional basketball competition for European clubs, organised by FIBA. It is the top-level competition organised by FIBA Europe, therefore the champion participates in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Kallithea Palais des Sports (Greek: Παλέ ντε Σπορ Καλλιθέας), is an indoor sporting arena that is located on the Greek island of Rhodes, in Faliraki, some 13 km away from Rhodes, Greece. The arena is mainly used to host basketball and volleyball games. The seating capacity of the arena is 3,400 people. 2019–20 Greek Basket League
The 2019–20 Greek betshop.gr Basket League was the 80th season of the Greek Basket League, the top-tier level professional club basketball league in Greece. The season started in September 2019, and ended prematurely in March 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 21 May 2020, after a vote that was held between the league's 14 teams, Panathinaikos was crowned the Greek basketball league's champion for the season, marking the club's 38th Greek championship. The league's 14 teams also agreed that none of the teams would be relegated.
