Kamëz
Kamëz ( sq-definite, Kamza) is a municipality in Tirana County, Albania. It was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Kamëz and Paskuqan, that became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is the town Kamëz. The total population is 104,190 (2011 census), in a total area of 37.20 km2. The population of the former municipality at the 2011 census was 66,841. Kamëz was one of the applicants for the 2019 European Green Capital Awards, which was won by Oslo. History Prior to the 1990s, Kamëz was a sparsely populated and predominantly agricultural area. Following the post 1990s Albanian population movements, the area experienced massive influxes of inhabitants from all over Albania. The newly formed city is known to bear impressive street names belonging to international personalities, capital cities, and organizations. KS Kamza
Football Club Kamza was a football club based in Kamëz, Albania. Founded on 10 September, the club has competed in the lower levels of Albanian football for much of its history, except for the 2011–12 season where they were promoted to the Kategoria Superiore for the first time but they were relegated in their debut season and have competed in the First Division since. History Background The first game of football to be played in Kamëz took place on 26 July 1908, as a celebration of the Young Turk Revolution which was triggered 16 days earlier by Ahmed Niyazi Bey, who was Albanian. The game was organised by Refik Toptani of the noble Toptani family and it featured two groups of youths from Kamëz and Tiranë, named Tërkuzaj and Agimi respectively. Tirana County ( sq, Qarku Tiranë, italic=unset), officially the County of Tirana ( sq, Qarku i Tiranës, italic=unset), is a county in the Central Region of the Republic of Albania. Bathore
Bathore is an area just outside Tirana, the capital of Albania. It is part of the municipality Kamëz. The area, comprising approximately was a collective farm run by the state under communism. Bathore was squatted in the early 1990s by migrants from the mountainous north. They had no electricity or water, and were funded by money sent from relatives abroad. They built permanent housing in the hope that this would make an eviction harder for the authorities. The authorities attempted to evict the settlement in 1995, but the squatters fought back and took the deputy prime minister Tritan Shehu hostage. By 2000, 60 per cent of new inhabitants bought their land from previous squatters, 20 per cent squatted, 6 per cent were given land by the authorities, 2 per cent bought from pre-independence owners and 10 per cent used other methods.
