Kalaw
Kalaw (; Shan: ) is a hill town in the Shan State of Myanmar. It is the capital of Kalaw District and Kalaw Township. Overview The town was popular with the British during colonial rule. Kalaw is the main setting of the novel ''Das Herzenhören'' by Jan-Philipp Sendker. The hill station is located at an elevation of 1310 metres, 50 km from the Inle lake. Kalaw is famous for hiking and trekking. Many trekking trails ranging from nearby places to Inle Lake and Pindaya. Aungban () () is a prominent trading town in the southern Shan State of Myanmar. Aungban plays a vital role in the national agricultural supply chain, distributing produce to various regions across the country. It is located in Kalaw Township which is part of Kalaw District. It lies on the Thazi- Kyaingtong road at an elevation of above sea level. As of March 2023, the town had a recorded population of 30,982. Due to its strategic location in agricultural villages, Aungban functions as a key junction town. Heho
Heho () is a small town in Kalaw Township, Shan State of Myanmar (formerly Burma). It is the primary air gateway to tourist areas such as Inle Lake. Heho is connected by NH4 to Sakangyi and Taunggyi, the capital of the Shan State in the east. A dirt road northwest from Heho leads to the old silver-lead mines of Maw Son (Baw Zaing). Climate History It was a small village of Danu people. The village grew into a town in the 1920s when the single-line railway line was extended from Aungpan to Shwenyaung, and Heho was determined to be a convenient intermediate stop and transfer point. Later an airport was built, northwest of the town. The airport served as an airbase both for the Allies and the Japanese during World War II. The airbase was heavily bombed by the Allies.
