Jihlava District () is a district in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. Its capital is the city of Jihlava. Administrative division Jihlava District is divided into two administrative districts of municipalities with extended competence: Jihlava and Telč. Districts Of The Czech Republic
Districts of the Czech Republic are territorial units, formerly used as second-level administrative divisions of the Czech Republic. After their primary administrative function has been abolished in 2003, they still exist for the activities of specific authorities and as statistical units. Their administrative function was moved to selected municipalities. Establishment In 1960, Czechoslovakia was re-divided into districts (''okres'', Grammatical number, plural ''okresy''), often without regard to traditional division and local relationships. In the area of the Czech Republic, there were 75 districts; the 76th Jeseník District was split from Šumperk District in 1996. Dobronín
Dobronín (; ) is a municipality and village in Jihlava District in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,900 inhabitants. Geography Dobronín is located about northeast of Jihlava. It lies mostly in the Upper Sázava Hills. A small northwestern part of the municipal territory lies in the Křemešník Highlands and includes the highest point of Dobronín at above sea level. The stream Zlatý potok flows through the municipality. The territory is rich in fishponds. History The first written mention of Dobronín is from 1351. An unconfirmed mention is documented already in 1233. Today's municipality of Dobronín was established in 1948 by merger of villages of Dobronín and Německý Šicendorf. In May 1945, after World War II, local Czechs massacred more than dozen local ethnic German civilians.
