Jevnaker
Jevnaker is a municipality in Akershus county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Jevnaker with a population of 4,302. The parish of ''Jævnaker'' was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The area of Lunner was separated from the municipality of Jevnaker on 1 January 1898 to form a municipality of its own. From 2020 to 2023 the municipality belonged to Viken county, it was Oppland before that. The municipality is (together with Gran and Lunner) a part of the Hadeland traditional region. The Hadeland region has a population of about 30,000. The region spreads over a large area including several villages and towns. Hadeland () is a Districts of Norway, traditional district in the southeastern part of Norway. It is centered on the southern part of the large lake Randsfjorden in Innlandet and Akershus counties. Randsfjorden
Randsfjorden is Norway's fourth-largest lake with an area of . Its volume is estimated at just over , and its greatest depth is . The lake is located at an elevation of above sea level. It is located in Innlandet and Akershus counties in the municipalities of Gran, Jevnaker, Nordre Land, and Søndre Land in the districts of Land and Hadeland. It is drained by the Randselva river. In ''Heimskringla'', Snorri Sturluson recorded that Halfdan the Black (''Halvdan Svarte''), father of Harald Hårfagre, the first King of Norway, journeyed over the lake while returning home from a visit to Hadeland. Traveling with a horse and sleigh while the lake was supposedly frozen, he fell through the ice and drowned. In modern times, many golf courses have been set up on the edge of the lake. Kistefos Træsliberi
The Kistefos Wood Pulp Mill () is a former pulp mill and hydroelectric power plant in Jevnaker, Norway. It was founded by Kistefos at the river Randselva in 1889. History The mill was founded on 27 June 1889 by councilor Anders Sveaas and was in operation from the following year until 1955 when an agreement was made with Follum Fabrikker (now Norske Skog Follum) who took over the operation. Kistefos agreed to deliver power and lumber to the plant at Follum, being paid market price and a premium for the processing. After an internal disagreement in the family the company was sold to the neighbor company Viul Tresliperi in 1983, but was bought back by Christen Sveaas in 1993 and transformed into the holding company Kistefos. Oppland
Oppland is a former county in Norway which existed from 1781 until its dissolution on 1 January 2020. The old Oppland county bordered the counties of Trøndelag, Møre og Romsdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Buskerud, Akershus, Oslo and Hedmark. The county administration was located in the town of Lillehammer. Merger On 1 January 2020, the neighboring counties of Oppland and Hedmark were merged to form the new Innlandet county. Viken (county)
Viken was a short-lived county in Norway that existed from 1 January 2020 to 1 January 2024. Its name was derived from the historical region in present-day Norway and Sweden. The county was located in Eastern Norway when it was established on 1 January 2020 by the merger of Akershus, Buskerud and Østfold with the addition of the municipalities of Jevnaker, Lunner and the former Svelvik Municipality. Both its creation and its name—described as unhistorical by historians—were controversial from the onset, the merger was resisted by all the three counties and the new county had an approval rating of about 20% in the region. Tor Bomann-Larsen (born 26 April 1951) is a Norwegian illustrator, children's writer, non-fiction writer, novelist and government scholar. Biography Tor Bomann-Larsen was born in Jevnaker, Oppland on 26 April 1951, a son of engineer Erik Bomann-Larsen and Solveig Gjerde. He married illustrator in 1975. Educated at Einar Granum’s art school in Oslo, and at Fachhochschule Münster in Germany, he started his career as a satirical illustrator for various newspapers, including '' Budstikka'', '' Friheten'', ''Ny tid'', ''Dagbladet'', '' Nationen'' and ''Arbederbladet''. He has written biographies of explorers Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen and writer Sigurd Christiansen. He was one of the two recipients of the Cappelen Prize for 1993, and of the Brage Prize for non-fiction in 2004. Hadeland Glassverk
Hadeland Glassverk is situated in Jevnaker, Akershus 40 km north of Oslo, at the southern tip of lake Randsfjorden. History The glass works was founded in 1762 on land belonging to the Mo estate. Production started in 1765. At the time Norway did not have the necessary skilled craftsmen, and these were recruited from abroad, principally from Germany. Initially production consisted mainly of bottles, chemists’ jars, medicine bottles and items of household glass. In 1852 Ole Christian Berg took charge of the glass works and the company underwent dramatic development. Production was redefined to consist of smaller crystal items and included everything from wine glasses to bowls, dishes and vases.
