Hymenochaetaceae
The ''Hymenochaetaceae'' are a family (biology), family of fungi in the order Hymenochaetales. The family contains several species that are implicated in many diseases of broad-leaved and coniferous trees, causing heart rot, canker and root diseases, and also Esca (grape disease), esca disease of grapevines. Genera The following genera are recognised in the family Hymenochaetaceae: *extinction, †''Appianoporites'' (Eocene) *''Arambarria'' *''Asterodon'' *''Aurificaria'' *''Botryodontia'' *''Clavariachaete'' *''Coltricia'' *''Coltriciella'' *''Coniferiporia'' *''Cyclomyces'' *''Cylindrosporus'' *''Deviodontia'' *''Dichochaete'' *''Erythromyces'' *''Fomes'' *''Fomitiporella'' *''Fomitiporia'' *''Fulvifomes'' *''Fulvoderma'' *''Fuscoporella'' *''Fuscoporia'' *''Hastodontia'' *''Hydnochaete'' *''Hydnoporia'' *''Hymenochaete'' *''Hymenochaetopsis'' *''Inocutis'' *''Inonotopsis'' *''Inonotus'' *''Meganotus'' *''Mensularia'' *''Mucronoporus'' *''Neomen ...

Hymenochaetales
The Hymenochaetales are an order of fungi in the class Agaricomycetes. The order in its current sense is based on molecular research and not on any unifying morphological characteristics. According to one 2008 estimate, the Hymenochaetales contain around 600 species worldwide, mostly corticioid fungi and poroid fungi, but also including several clavarioid fungi and agarics. Species of economic importance include wood decay fungi in the genera '' Phellinus'' and ''Inonotus'' sensu lato, some of which may cause losses in forestry. Therapeutic properties are claimed for '' Inonotus obliquus'' ("chaga") and '' Phellinus linteus'', both of which are now commercially marketed. Taxonomy History The order was proposed in 1977 to recognize the family Hymenochaetaceae at a higher taxonomic rank. As originally conceived, species within the Hymenochaetales had several morphological features in common, notably brown or brownish basidiocarps (fruit bodies) that turn black in alkali, ...

Hymenochaete Cruenta
''Hymenochaete'' is a genus of fungi in the family Hymenochaetaceae. The genus has a widespread distribution, especially in tropical regions. The name probably means ''long-haired membrane'' from the Greek ''hymen'' meaning ''membrane'' and ''chaite'' meaning ''long hair''. On the basis of sequence data, in 2002 the genus '' Pseudochaete'' was constructed for ''Hymenochaete tabacina'', as it was found to be more closely related to the poroid Hymenochaetales '' Onnia'' and '' Porodaedalea''. ''Pseudochaete'' is however considered illegitimate since it is preoccupied by an algal genus. Appianoporites
''Appianoporites'' is an extinct monotypic genus of fungus in the Agaricomycetes family Hymenochaetaceae. At present it contains the single species ''Appianoporites vancouverensis''. The genus is solely known from the Eocene Appian Way deposits on Vancouver Island. ''Appianoporites'', the first fossil fungus species to be described from the Appian Way strata, is one of only three found on Vancouver Island, British Columbia: the agaricomycete '' Quatsinoporites cranhamii'' was described from a Cretaceous fossil at the same time as ''Appianoporites'', while a third fungus, '' Margaretbarromyces dictyosporus'' was described three years later. __TOC__ History and classification The genus is known only from the single holotype, a partial bracket fungus fruiting body, or conk. The specimen, AW 104 D top, is currently residing in the collections housed by the Royal British Columbia Museum, Victoria. The specimen was collected south of the Campbell River on the eastern shore of Vancouv ...

Fulvifomes
''Fulvifomes'' is a genus of fungi in the family Hymenochaetaceae. It was formerly considered synonymous with the genus ''Phellinus'', but it was resurrected based on morphological and molecular phylogenetic evidence. Description ''Fulvifomes'' is a characterized by a dimitic hyphal system, an absence of setae, coloured basidiospores, and pileate basidiomata. Etymology The genus name comes from the Latin word ''fulvus'', meaning tawny. Taxonomy ''Fulvifomes'' contains the following species: * '' Fulvifomes acontextus'' * '' Fulvifomes allardii'' * '' Fulvifomes aulaxinus'' * '' Fulvifomes aureobrunneus'' * '' Fulvifomes azonatus'' * '' Fulvifomes boninensis'' * '' Fulvifomes caligoporus'' * '' Fulvifomes cedrelae'' * '' Fulvifomes centroamericanus'' * '' Fulvifomes coffeatoporus'' * '' Fulvifomes collinus'' * '' Fulvifomes costaricense'' * '' Fulvifomes crocatus'' * '' Fulvifomes dracaenicola'' * '' Fulvifomes durissimus'' * '' Fulvifomes elaeodendri'' * '' Fulvifomes everhar ...
