Hits Radio
Hits Radio is a network of 26 contemporary hit radio stations in the United Kingdom, owned and operated by Bauer Media Audio UK. The network launched in 2018 with the rebranding of Bauer's Manchester station Key 103 and its merger with The Hits, and since then various other local stations have been rebranded under the Hits Radio banner. As of December 2024, the network has a combined reach of 7.1 million weekly listeners according to RAJAR. Overview Hits Radio UK broadcasts on DAB in many parts of the UK and online. 25 localised variants air on FM and DAB across England and Wales. As of May 2024, there are a total of 25 local radio stations in the network providing local programming, news, traffic and sport, along with networked output from Hits Radio UK. Hits Radio Liverpool, formerly Radio City, is an Independent Local Radio station, owned and operated by Bauer Media Audio UK as part of the Hits Radio network. It broadcasts to Merseyside, Cheshire and parts of north Wales. As of March 2025, the station has a weekly audience of 260,000 listeners according to RAJAR. Easy Radio South Coast is an Independent Local Radio station based in Southampton, England, owned and operated by Nation Broadcasting. It broadcasts to the South Coast of England. The station has been part of the Easy Radio network since September 2022 when the Hits Radio licensing name agreement ended. As of September 2024, the station has a weekly audience of 38,000 listeners according to RAJAR. History 107.8 FM in Southampton The 107.8 FM service launched under the name SouthCity FM on 5 September 1999. Hits Radio Dorset, formerly Fire Radio, is an Independent Local Radio station owned and operated by Bauer as part of the Hits Radio Network. The station broadcasts to Bournemouth, Poole, and Christchurch, Dorset from studios outside its broadcast area, in Segensworth in Fareham. The station was originally launched on 26 June 1999 by founding Directors James Bromley and David Harber as FM 107.6 The NRG, but changed name a year later following a dispute with French radio station NRJ. Hits Radio Staffordshire & Cheshire, formerly Signal 1, is an Independent Local Radio station owned and operated by Bauer Media Audio UK as part of the Hits Radio network. It broadcasts to North Staffordshire and South Cheshire. As of September 2024, the station has a weekly audience of 173,000 listeners according to RAJAR. History ''Signal Radio'' began broadcasting at 6a.m. on Monday 5 September 1983. Bauer City 3 was a network of 12 popular mainstream music radio stations in Scotland and northern England, owned and operated by Bauer Radio. Overview From Monday 19 January 2015, The Hits on DAB was absorbed into the new Bauer City 3 network of stations. The new services were locally branded and identified, with the opportunity to split for individual local news, information, advertising and jingles, with The Hits content as a national programme feed. Programming was broadcast among all Bauer City 3 stations in Scotland and Northern England, originating from the studios of Key 103 in Castlefield and Clyde 3 in Glasgow. Free Radio was a regional group of Independent Local Radio stations in the West Midlands (region), West Midlands, owned and operated by Bauer Media Audio UK as part of the Hits Radio network. The Free Radio brand name was replaced by localised versions of Hits Radio on 17 April 2024.
