Green Line (Stockholm Metro)
The Green Line () is the oldest of the three Stockholm Metro lines. The long line comprises a single double-tracked line north of the city centre, splitting into three branches south of the city centre. The first section of the line opened as a metro in 1950, making it the first and oldest metro line in the Nordic countries, although some parts of the line date back to the 1930s and were originally used by the Stockholm tramway. History Before the metro The first section of what is now the Green Line opened as a metro in 1950, but several sections of the line use infrastructure that was originally built for, or used by, the Stockholm tramway. Alvik Metro Station
Alvik metro station is a station on the Green line of the Stockholm metro, and on the Tvärbanan and Nockebybanan lines of Stockholm tramways. It is located on the border between the districts of Traneberg and Alvik, which are part of the borough of Bromma in the west of the city of Stockholm. The station is one of the intermediate termini along the northern section of the Green line, with line 18 trains normally terminating, and is also the terminus of the Nockebybanan. Alvik station has tracks on two levels, both above ground. The higher level has two island platforms aligned east-west and serving four tracks. The outer pair of tracks are through tracks used by metro trains, whilst the inner pair of tracks are used to terminate Nockebybanan trams, thus providing cross-platform interchange between the Nockebybanan and metro. Hötorget, formerly known as Kungsgatan, is an underground station on the Green line of the Stockholm metro. Skanstullsbron (Swedish language, Swedish: "The Fortlet Tollgate Bridge") is a bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Overpassing the older bridge Skansbron, it connects the major island Södermalm to the southern district Johanneshov. The first proposal for an elevated bridge stretching over the canal Hammarbykanalen was produced in 1921, before work on the lower Skansbron bridge began in 1923. It remained the favoured bridge design to solve the increasing traffic load of the area during the 1920s and 1930s and was approved by the city council in 1939.
