Erzincan Province
Erzincan Province (; ; ) is a Provinces of Turkey, province in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. In Turkey, its capital is also called Erzincan. Its area is 11,815 km2, and its population is 239,223 (2022). Geography Erzincan is traversed by the northeasterly line of equal latitude and longitude. It lies on the North Anatolian Fault, Northern Anatolian Fault, where it is often the location for earthquakes such as 1939 Erzincan earthquake, on 27 December 1939 and 1992 Erzincan earthquake, 13 March 1992. History In September 1935 the third Inspectorates-General (Turkey), Inspectorate General (''Umumi Müfettişlik,'' UM) was created, into which the Erzincan province was included. Erzincan
Erzincan (; ), historically Yerznka (), is the capital of Erzincan Province in eastern Turkey. Nearby cities include Erzurum, Sivas, Tunceli, Bingöl, Elazığ, Malatya, Gümüşhane, Bayburt, and Giresun. The city is majority Turkish Sunni with a Kurdish Alevi minority. The city had a population of 150,714 in 2022, an increase from 86,779 in 2007. History Acilisene, the ancient region that is now Erzincan, was the site of the Peace of Acilisene by which in AD 387 Armenia was divided into two vassal states, a smaller one dependent on the Byzantine Empire and a larger one dependent on Persia. This is the name (Ἀκιλισηνή in Greek) by which it is called by Strabo in his ''Geography'', 11.4.14. The etymological origin of the word is disputed, but it is agreed that the city was once called Erez. For a while it was called Justinianopolis in honour of Emperor Justinian. Bingöl Province
Bingöl Province (; ; ; ) is a province of Turkey. The province was known as Çapakçur Province () before 1945 when it was renamed as Bingöl Province. Its area is 8,003 km2, and its population is 282,556 (2022). The province encompasses 11 Belde, municipalities, 325 villages and 693 Hamlet (place), hamlets. The town of Genç, Bingöl, Genç was the scene of origin for the Sheikh Said rebellion in 1925 and most of the region was captured by the rebels during the rebellion. Elazığ Province
Elazığ () is a city in the Eastern Anatolia Region, Eastern Anatolia region of Turkey, and the administrative centre of Elazığ Province and Elazığ District. Fourth Inspectorate-General (Turkey)
The Fourth Inspectorate-General (''Dördüncü Umumi Müffetişlik'') refers to a regional administrative subdivision in the Dersim region. Organization The fourth UM spanned over the provinces of Elazığ, Erzincan, Bingöl and Tunceli. The focus of the UM was on Tunceli, but its seat was in Elazığ,Çagaptay, 2006, p. 48 which had a Turkish majority population and infrastructure of railroads and telephone lines to the Turkish capital. It was governed by a Governor-Commander in a state of emergency. Most of the employees in the municipality were to be filled with military personnel and the Governor-Commander had the authority to evacuate whole villages and resettle them in other parts of the country. The juridical guarantees did not comply with the law valid in other parts of Turkey. Trials were at most five days long, and sentences could not be appealed. Erzurum
Erzurum (; ) is a List of cities in Turkey, city in eastern Anatolia, Turkey. It is the largest city and capital of Erzurum Province and is 1,900 meters (6,233 feet) above sea level.
