Downhere (stylized as downhere) was a Christian rock band from Canada. They have released six studio albums to date: ''Downhere'' (2001), ''So Much for Substitutes'' (2003), ''Wide-Eyed and Mystified'' (2006), ''Ending Is Beginning'' (2008), '' How Many Kings: Songs for Christmas'' (2009), and ''On the Altar of Love'' (2011) and have won several Juno and Covenant Awards. History Early years (1999–2001) The band was formed by Marc Martel and Jason Germain who were roommates at Briercrest Bible College in Caronport, Saskatchewan. In 1999 Martel and Germain added fellow Canadians Jeremy Thiessen and Tyson Manning, along with American Corey Doak, and released an eponymous debut album independently on Slyngshot Records. Tyson and Doak left the band, and later on Downhere signed with Word Records. In February 2001, they moved to Nashville, Tennessee. Caronport, Saskatchewan
Caronport ( 2016 population: ) is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within the Rural Municipality of Caron No. 162 and Census Division No. 7. The village is west of the City of Moose Jaw on the Trans-Canada Highway. History Caronport incorporated as a village on January 1, 1988. It was named for the predecessor World War II British Commonwealth training base for pilots near the hamlet of Caron, i.e. Caron Airport. The airbase, RCAF Station Caron, operated from December 17, 1941, to January 14, 1944. Although the runways are now all defunct, the layout of the village was determined by the original runway placement. The Juno Award for "Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year" has been awarded since 1998, as recognition each year for the best Christian/Gospel music album in Canada. GMA Music Awards
A Dove Award is an accolade by the Gospel Music Association (GMA) of the United States to recognize outstanding achievement in the Christian music industry. The awards ceremonies presented annually and have been held in Nashville, Tennessee except in 2011 and 2012 when they were held in Atlanta, Georgia. The ceremonies feature live musical performances and are broadcast on TBN. John Fields (born September 11, 1968) is an American record producer, recording engineer, mixer, and musician. Fields has produced for a number of musical artists, including the Jonas Brothers, Switchfoot, Pink (singer), Pink, Har Mar Superstar, Miley Cyrus, Ben Rector, Andrew W.K., Busted (band), Busted and Demi Lovato. Freddie Mercury (born Farrokh Bulsara; 5 September 1946 – 24 November 1991) was a British singer and songwriter who achieved global fame as the lead vocalist and pianist of the rock band Queen (band), Queen. Queen are a British Rock music, rock band formed in London in 1970 by Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), and Roger Taylor (Queen drummer), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), later joined by John Deacon (bass). Their earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock and Heavy metal music, heavy metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works by incorporating further styles, such as arena rock and pop rock. "Somebody to Love" is a song by the British rock band Queen, written by lead singer and pianist Freddie Mercury. It debuted on the band's 1976 album '' A Day at the Races'' and also appears on their 1981 compilation album ''Greatest Hits''. The song has similarities to Queen's earlier hit "Bohemian Rhapsody" with its complex harmonies and guitar solos; however, instead of mimicking an English choir, the band turned to a gospel choir. It reached 2 in the UK and No. 13 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The song demonstrated that "Queen could swing as hard as it could rock, by channeling the spirit of gospel music". Jason Jeffrey Gay (born January 18, 1972), better known by his stage name Jason Gray, is an American contemporary Christian singer-songwriter. He was born Jason Jeffrey Gay and released a number of albums independently under his given name. Gay legally changed his last name to Gray in 2006, citing issues associated with internet search engines and content filters when fans would search for "Jason Gay". In 2007 he signed to Centricity Music, releasing more albums with them under the name Jason Gray. Early life, family and education Jason Jeffrey Gray was born and raised in southwestern Minnesota.
