Dongen
Dongen () is a Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality and village in North Brabant, in the southern Netherlands. In the past it had a profitable leather industry, and a few old shoe factories in the town's older sections remain. The town is near a small river called the Donge (river), Donge, the water of which was used extensively for the leather industry. The Aerts automobile was built here in 1899. 's Gravenmoer
s Gravenmoer is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Dongen, about 3 km north of the town of Dongen. The village has a population of about 2190 inhabitants, including the farmlands to the north of the village. Kelly Van Zon
Kelly van Zon (born 15 September 1987 in Oosterhout, Netherlands) is a Dutch table tennis player competing in both disabled and able-bodied competitions. She currently plays for Dutch club TTV SKF in Veenendaal. She competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, in Women's individual class 7, winning a gold medal, and in Women's team class 6–8, winning a silver medal. Biography Van Zon began playing table tennis at the age of nine at TTV BSM Dongen. She made her international debut at the 2002 Malmö Open in Sweden. Due to a functional disability of her left hip and leg she competes in Class 7 competitions. Besides competing at a top level in table tennis, she studies Marketing and Communication at Johan Cruijff College in Nijmegen, which allows her to successfully combine sport and studies. Karel Angèle Antonius Willemen (born May 15, 1967 in Dongen) is a Dutch people, Dutch designer. He is mainly recognized for his contributions to the fantasy-themed amusement park Efteling, located in Kaatsheuvel in the Netherlands. Willemen started at Efteling in 1988, after completing the Royal Academy for Arts and Design in Den Bosch, as a Senior Modeler, Sculptor and Decorator. Theodorus Marinus Roest
Theodorus Marinus Roest (14 April 1832, Dongen – 2 September 1898 Baden-Baden) was a Dutch numismatist and conservator of the numismatic collection of the Teylers Museum. In 1872 he was appointed ''associé étranger'' of the ''Sociéte royale de numismatique'', and became publisher of ''Reveu de la numismatique belge''. He became an authority on numismatics. In 1876 he became director of the Academisch Penningkabinet in Leiden. In 1881 he resigned when that cabinet was absorbed into the '' Royal cabinet of medals'' (which today is part of the :nl:Geldmuseum in Utrecht). Through the efforts of the archivist of the city of Haarlem Adriaan Justus Enschedé, Roest was hired to catalog the collection of the Teylers Museum. Enschedé had been a member of Teylers Tweede Genootschap since 1876 and was a coin collector himself. Efteling
Efteling () is a fantasy-themed amusement park in Kaatsheuvel, the Netherlands. The attractions reflect elements from ancient European myths and legends, fairy tales, fables, and folklore. Donge (river)
The Donge is a small river in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It rises from springs east of Baarle-Nassau as a stream called Leij. Near Tilburg the name changes to ''Donge''. It passes the village of Dongen and flows north to the town of Geertruidenberg where it is continued by the Amer together with the Bergse Maas. The Donge has a length of 35 km. Use of the river Because the Donge gets wider around the city of Geertruidenberg, it was mainly used for industrial purposes in that area. Until 1952 the powerplant Dongecentrale, which provided all of North Brabant with electricity was located at the river. When it was discontinued, the Amercentrale (located at the river Amer) took over its tasks, some of the ships with coals still use the Donge.
