''Days of Our Lives'' (also stylized as ''Days of our Lives''; simply referred to as ''Days'' or ''DOOL'') is an American television soap opera that aired on the network NBC from November 8, 1965, to September 9, 2022; the soap has streamed new episodes on Peacock (streaming service), Peacock since September 12, 2022. The soap is one of the longest-running scripted television programs in the world, airing nearly every weekday since November 8, 1965. A co-production of Corday Productions and Sony Pictures Television, the series was created by husband-and-wife team Ted Corday and Betty Corday. During ''Days of Our Lives'' early years, Irna Phillips (creator of former NBC stablemate ''Another World (TV series), Another World'' as well as its former CBS rivals, ''As the World Turns'' and ''Guiding Light'') served as a story editor for the program and many of the show's earliest storylines were written by William J. Ted Corday
Theodore "Ted" Corday (May 8, 1908 – July 23, 1966) was a Canadian-American producer, director and co-creator of soap opera for NBC, most notably the hit series ''Days of Our Lives''. Biography Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Corday graduated from the University of Alberta in 1930 and studied law before moving to the United States in 1934. He served as a Captain in the United States Army. He worked in Broadway for many years before producing dramas for radio, such as '' Tortilla Flat'', '' Tobacco Road'', '' Gangbusters'' and '' Counterspy''. He then moved to television in the 1950s, producing ''Guiding Light'' for a time as well as directing ''As the World Turns'', from its 1956 premiere until 1965. Corday was later lured to NBC to create three new soap operas. Irna Phillips
Irna Phillips (July 1, 1901 – December 23, 1973) was an American scriptwriter, screenwriter, casting agent, and actress who pioneered a style of daytime soap opera in the United States geared specifically toward women. Phillips created, produced, and wrote several radio and television daytime serials throughout her career, including ''Guiding Light'', '' As the World Turns'', and '' Another World''. She was also a mentor to several other pioneers of the American daytime soap opera, including Agnes Nixon, William J. Bell and Ted Corday. Personal life Phillips was one of 10 children born to a German-Jewish family in Chicago. Her father died when she was 8, leaving her mother alone to raise the children.
