Dedicated Records
Dedicated was a British independent record label that released music between 1990 and 1998 by Spiritualized, Spacemen 3, Global Communication, Beth Orton (in the U.S.), Chapterhouse (band), Chapterhouse, Cranes (band), Cranes and others. It was based in London and founded by Doug D'Arcy. Dedicated were bought by Arista Records who were in turn bought by Sony Music Entertainment. History Dedicated Records was founded by Doug D'Arcy after leaving Chrysalis Records where he had been managing director, later president and director of the Chrysalis Group. It was a joint venture with Bertelsmann Music Group, BMG group (and was eventually amalgamated into the main Group via Deconstruction Records). Dedicated Records signed Spacemen 3 from Fire Records (UK), who split up after signing, therefore Dedicated inherited offshoot band Spiritualized. Antônio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim (25 January 1927 – 8 December 1994), also known as Tom Jobim (), was a Brazilian composer, pianist, guitarist, songwriter, arranger, and singer. Considered as one of the great exponents of Brazilian music, Jobim merged samba with cool jazz in the 1960s to create bossa nova, with worldwide success. As a result, he is regarded as one of the fathers of bossa nova, and as one of the most-celebrated songwriters of the 20th century. Paul Melvyn Carrack (born 22 April 1951) is an English singer, musician, songwriter and composer who has recorded as both a solo artist and as a member of several popular bands. The Shirelles
The Shirelles were an American girl group formed in Passaic, New Jersey, in 1957. They consisted of schoolmates Shirley Owens (later Shirley Alston Reeves), Doris Coley (later Doris Kenner-Jackson), Addie "Micki" Harris (later Addie Harris McFadden), and Beverly Lee. Founded in 1957 for a talent show at their high school, they were signed by Florence Greenberg of Tiara Records. Their first single, "I Met Him on a Sunday", was released by Tiara and licensed by Decca Records in 1958. After a brief and unsuccessful period with Decca, they went with Greenberg to her newly formed company, Scepter Records. Working with Luther Dixon, the group rose to fame with " Tonight's the Night".
