Third Baseman
A third baseman, abbreviated 3B, is the player in baseball or softball whose responsibility is to defend the area nearest to third base — the third of four bases a baserunner must touch in succession to score a run. In the Baseball scorekeeping, scoring system used to record defensive plays, the third baseman is assigned the number 5. Third base is known as the "hot corner", because the third baseman is often the infielder who stands closest to the batter—roughly 90–120 feet away, but even closer if a Bunt (baseball), bunt is expected. Most right-handed hitters tend to hit the ball hard in this direction. A third baseman must possess good hand-eye coordination and quick reactions to catch batted balls whose speed can exceed . The third base position requires a strong and accurate arm, as the third baseman often makes long throws to first base or quick ones to second baseman, second base to start a double play. As with middle infielders, right-handed throwing players are ...

Baseball Infielders
Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. The game occurs over the course of several plays, with each play beginning when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player on the batting team, called the batter, tries to hit with a bat. The objective of the offensive team (batting team) is to hit the ball into the field of play, away from the other team's players, allowing its players to run the bases, having them advance counter-clockwise around four bases to score what are called " runs". The objective of the defensive team (referred to as the fielding team) is to prevent batters from becoming runners, and to prevent runners advancing around the bases. A run is scored when a runner legally advances around the bases in order and touches home plate (the place where the player started as a batter). The initial objective of the batting team is to have a player rea ...

Elefantes De Cienfuegos Players
"Elefantes" (Spanish for "Elephants") is a popular Hispanic children's song similar to the American song "99 Bottles of Beer". In American education Many students in Spanish I and II classes learn this song to help with their vocabulary and grammar. In Spanish I, the counting part of the song may help. In the case of the words ''veía'', ''araña'', and ''resistía'', the tildes (accent marks) help the students with their accents and how to pronounce the words when they are present. The verbs ''ir'' and ''caber'' are irregular in the preterite tense, so the teacher may tell the students to sing the song as if it happened last week. Many young ESL students, or even grown immigrants, learn the song to help with their English.{{cn, date=June 2021 In popular culture There is a popular commercial shown on Latin American television (primarily Telemundo) for the Ford Focus that shows some men dressed in elephant suits in the car singing the song. Defectors To The United States
In politics, a defector is a person who gives up allegiance to one state in exchange for allegiance to another, changing sides in a way which is considered illegitimate by the first state. More broadly, defection involves abandoning a person, cause, or doctrine to which one is bound by some tie, as of allegiance or duty. This term is also applied, often pejoratively, to anyone who switches loyalty to another religion, sports team, political party, or other rival faction. In that sense, the defector is often considered a traitor by their original side. International politics The physical act of defection is usually in a manner which violates the laws of the nation or political entity from which the person is seeking to depart. By contrast, mere changes in citizenship, or working with allied militia, usually do not violate any law(s). For example, in the 1950s, East Germans were increasingly prohibited from traveling to the western Federal Republic of Germany where they were au ...
