Cypress High School
Cypress High School is a public high school in the city of Cypress, California. It was founded in 1973 and serves grades 9 through 12. Cypress is one of eight high schools in the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD). History Cypress was first established in 1973, and was honored as a California Distinguished School in 2007. Athletics Cypress's sports teams compete in the Empire League and the CIF Southern Section. The school mascot is the centurion of Roman fame. The school colors are navy blue, orange, and white. In 2007, baseball team was ranked in the Top 25 for all prep teams nationwide. Cypress, California
Cypress is a city in northwestern Orange County within Southern California. Its population was 50,151 at the 2020 census. History The first people living in the area now known as Cypress were the Gabrieleno, a Native American tribe of the Tongva people, who were displaced soon after the arrival of the Europeans. The government of Spain then possessed the land until Mexico gained its independence in 1821. Mexico then lost Alta California to the United States during the period following the Bear Flag Revolt and the Mexican–American War. The original Spanish dons held immense tracts of land throughout California, which were given in lieu of pay to Spanish soldiers. Manuel Nieto was one of the early Spanish dons or landowners in the area. Rose Parade
The Rose Parade, also known as the Tournament of Roses Parade (or simply the Tournament of Roses), is an annual parade held mostly along Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, California, United States, on New Year's Day (or on Monday, January 2 if New Year's Day falls on a Sunday). Produced by the non-profit Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, the parade usually starts at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time ( UTC–8), and includes flower-covered floats, marching bands, and equestrian units. The parade is followed in the afternoon by the Rose Bowl, one of the major bowl games in college football. It has been uninterrupted except during World War II in 1942, 1943, and 1945, and in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Emily Dole
Emily Dole (September 28, 1957 – January 2, 2018) was an American athlete, actress and professional wrestler. She is best known for her appearances with Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling under the ring name Mountain Fiji (abbreviated in publications and her official logo as Mt. Fiji). Track and field career A 1976 graduate of Cypress High School, Dole threw the shot put at 50½ feet. This won Emily two Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) awards in 1975: number two distance in the U.S.A. for the Women's Division and number one distance in the U.S.A. for the Junior Division. Until 2000, only two other California high school girls had achieved that feat. She qualified for two Olympic Trials, finishing fifth in 1976 and seventh in 1980. Lanny Cordola (born 1961) is an American guitarist, songwriter and producer. Marko Cavka (born April 8, 1981 in Cypress, California) is a former professional American football offensive tackle. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the sixth round of the 2004 NFL Draft.
