Cyclophora Dataria
''Cyclophora dataria'' is a moth in the family Geometridae. It is found in North America, from British Columbia to California, east to Arizona and north to Montana. The habitat consists of mixed or deciduous woods with Quercus species. The wingspan is 23–25 mm. The forewings are uniform yellowish to light brown with fine dark speckling and lines. The hindwings are similar. Adults are on wing in late spring and summer. George Duryea Hulst
George Duryea Hulst (9 March 1846 – 5 November 1900) was an American clergyman, botanist and entomologist. Biography He graduated from Rutgers University in 1866 and received a degree from New Brunswick Theological Seminary in 1869, finally receiving his degree of Doctor of Philosophy from Rutgers in 1891. He was the pastor at the South Bushwick Reformed Church in Brooklyn, New York, starting soon after his ordination in 1869, and continuing until his death in 1900. Although this was his main focus, he also managed to make substantial contributions to science during those same years. He was an early member in the Brooklyn Entomological Society, and he was editor of its publication '' Entomologia Americana'' from 1887 to 1889. Geometridae
The geometer moths are moths belonging to the family Geometridae of the insect order Lepidoptera, the moths and butterflies. Their scientific name derives from the Ancient Greek ''geo'' γεω (derivative form of or "the earth"), and ''metron'' "measure" in reference to the way their larvae, or inchworms, appear to measure the earth as they move along in a looping fashion. A very large family, it has around 23,000 species of moths described, and over 1400 species from six subfamilies indigenous to North America alone. Cyclophora (moth)
''Cyclophora'' is a genus of moths in the family Geometridae. Many species are referred to as mochas in reference to their colouration, primarily in Europe. Taxonomy Traditionally, species included in this genus were either placed in ''Cyclophora'' (mostly Holarctic species) and ''Anisodes'' (mostly tropical species). Research concluded that these species belong in the same genus. The type species of ''Anisodes'' was even found to have features that are used to define ''Cyclophora''. Description Palpi hardly reaching beyond the frons. Antennae of male bipectinate (comb like on both sides) to two-thirds length.
