Cyclone Midhili
Severe Cyclonic Storm Midhili () was a tropical cyclone which impacted Bangladesh and Northeast India in mid-November 2023. The fifth named storm of the annual North Indian Ocean cyclone season, Midhili formed as a low-pressure area in the southeastern Bay of Bengal on 14 November. The system tracked west-northwest but turned northward on the next day. The system tracked north-northeast on 16 November and continued to gain strength. Early on 17 November, the system attained cyclonic storm statue and received the name Midhili. Midhili further strengthened to a severe cyclonic storm, just before making landfall in Patuakhali District of Bangladesh. The cyclone weakened immediately after landfall, and dissipated on the next day over Tripura, India. Warnings were issued to several ports of Bangladesh. Teknaf
Teknaf () is a municipality of Teknaf Upazila of Cox's Bazar District in south-eastern Bangladesh. It forms the southernmost point in mainland Bangladesh ( St. Martin's Island is the southernmost point). The name of the region comes from the Naf River which forms the eastern boundary of the upazila and is the boundary between Bangladesh and Myanmar. Teknaf port is used to trade with Myanmar. The Port of Payra is a seaport located at Kalapara in Patuakhali, Bangladesh. It was established by an Act of Parliament in 2013. The port was officially inaugurated in 2016. It is located on the Ramnabad Channel near the Bay of Bengal. The port is undergoing several Development and expansion and the project is expected to be completed in 2020. Khepupara
Kalapara Upazila (, also known as Khepupara () is an upazila of Patuakhali District in the Division of Barisal, Bangladesh. History The Rakhine tribe of Bangladesh first settled in this upazila. A section of the people belonging to the Buddhist Rakhine tribe of Arakan came to this upazila in quest of better living and first settled at Khepupara and Kuakata. Tradition goes that the Rakhines on excavating wells traced fresh water in the area and thereby settled there. The Rakhine word 'kansai' means 'beach of fate'.
