The Sleeman Sports Complex, formerly and still commonly known as the Sleeman Centre, is a sporting and entertainment complex in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Located on Old Cleveland Road in the suburb of Chandler, the facility is east of Brisbane's central business district and is home to an aquatic centre, velodrome, sports arena, gymnastics training hall, gymnasium, and auditorium. Katy Marchant (born 30 January 1993) is an elite British track cyclist who specialises in the sprint disciplines. She won gold as part of the Great Britain women's sprint team at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, and was a European champion in the 500 metre time trial in 2024. Career Originally from Leeds, Marchant was based in Manchester after her switch to cycling in April 2013. She was educated at Brigshaw High School. Marchant began her sporting life as a heptathlete, and represented Great Britain in that event at the 2012 World Junior Championships. The switchover was instigated by her former coach, Toni Minichiello (best known for coaching Jessica Ennis), who suggested the move to cycling having seen the results of her power output on a Wattbike test. Amelia Walsh (born 2 August 1992) is a Canadian cyclist. She started as a BMX rider at age 15. She won several provincial championships before she began representing her nation at international competitions. She competed in the UCI BMX World Championships in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Prior to that she competed in the 2009 World Junior Championships. She was the Canadian BMX Women's Champion title holder in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Rachel Sarah James (born 30 August 1988) is a Welsh racing cyclist specializing in track cycling. Biography James, from Abergavenny, Wales, is the daughter of David James and Christine Harris, and has a younger sister, Becky, who is a world champion racing cyclist, and also has another two younger sisters; Ffion and Megan, and brother Gareth, who are all keen cyclists. Emma Cumming (born 20 February 1998) is a New Zealand racing cyclist. She represented her country at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, claiming the silver medal in the team sprint (with Natasha Hansen) and the bronze medal in the track time trial. Olivia Rose Podmore (24 May 1997 – 9 August 2021) was a New Zealand professional racing cyclist. She represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Early life Born in Christchurch in 1997, Olivia was the daughter of Philip and Nienke (née Tabak) Podmore. She had one elder brother, Mitchell. She was educated at Middleton Grange School. Her great-grandfather, Cornelis Gerardus Tabak, was an Olympic weightlifter for Holland in the 1928 Amsterdam Games.
