Cushnie is a rural locality in the South Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. Geography The Chinchilla Wondai Road ( State Route 82) passes through from west to east. The neighbourhood of Home Creek is within the locality at . History Cushnie is a surname of Scottish origin, believed to be derived from the parish of Leochel-Cushnie. The origin of the word "Cushnie" is uncertain. Home Creek Provisional School opened on 29 January 1906. On 1 January 1909, it became Home Creek State School. It closed on 6 February 1949. The school was located on the south-western corner of the intersection of Chinchilla Wondai Road and Denmark/Harms Road (). The watercourse Home Creek flows through the area and is presumably the origin of the name. Cushnie State School opened on 14 November 1918 with 18 students. The first head teacher was Adolph Honke. Diphtheria is an infection caused by the bacterium '' Corynebacterium diphtheriae''. Most infections are asymptomatic or have a mild clinical course, but in some outbreaks more than 10% of those diagnosed with the disease may die. Leochel-Cushnie
Leochel-Cushnie is a parish in Aberdeenshire, about 40 km west of Aberdeen (West Aberdeenshire (UK Parliament constituency)). The old parishes of Leochel and Cushnie were united in 1795, on the death of Mr. Francis Adam, minister of Cushnie. The parish is bounded on the north by Kildrummy and Alford; on the east by Tough and Lumphanan; on the south by Coull, Tarland, and Logie-Coldstone; and on the west by Towie. The extreme length in a direct line, from the Tarland boundary, near Tilly-lodge, to the top of Coiliochbhar on the north, is about 5¾ miles, and the distance, from the Tough boundary on the east, to the top of the hill of Cushnie on the west, is nearly seven miles. The South Burnett Region is a local government area in the South Burnett district of Queensland, Australia. Origins This Local Government was created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. Prior to the 2008 amalgamation, the South Burnett Region, located in the southern catchment of the Burnett River, existed as four distinct local government areas: * the Shire of Kingaroy; * the Shire of Nanango; * the Shire of Murgon; * and the Shire of Wondai.
