Cure Parkinson's
The Cure Parkinson's Trust is a UK charitable organization founded in 2005 by Tom Isaacs to find a cure for Parkinson's disease. History Tom Isaacs , a sufferer of Parkinson's disease, founded the organization in 2005 from his home in Croxley Green. He had been diagnosed in 1995 at the age of 26, and was determined to find a cure. At the time of Isaacs' death in 2017, the organization had raised £7.4 million for Parkinson's research. As of 2024, £25 million has been raised and an additional £100 million secured through partnerships. The organization specializes in funding development of new therapeutic drugs, and clinical trials to test them. Tom Isaacs (fundraiser)
Tom Isaacs (2 April 1968 – 31 May 2017) was a British charity fundraiser and the President of The Cure Parkinson's Trust, which he co-founded. Among other achievements, he completed a 4,500-mile charity walk around the coast of Britain in order to raise funds for research into Parkinson's disease Isaacs, the son of a solicitor, trained as a surveyor, but was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in his mid-twenties, while working in London. He went on to found The Cure Parkinson's Trust, with others he had met in the course of his sponsored walk, and raised around £350,000 in total for medical research. He was named Charity Personality of the Year in 2004 and was one of the bearers of the Olympic torch in 2012. Parkinson's Disease Clinical Research
The research in Parkinson's disease (also known as clinical trials, medical research, research studies, or clinical studies) refers to any study intended to help answer questions about etiology, diagnostic approaches or new treatments of Parkinson's disease (PD) by studying their effects on human subjects. Clinical trials are designed and conducted by scientists and medical experts, who invite participants to undergo testing new vaccines, therapies, or treatments. Parkinson's disease (PD), or simply Parkinson's, is a neurodegenerative disease primarily of the central nervous system, affecting both motor system, motor and non-motor systems. Symptoms typically develop gradually and non-motor issues become more prevalent as the disease progresses. Croxley Green is both a village and a suburb of Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire, England. It is also a civil parish. Located on the A412 between Watford to the north-east and Rickmansworth to the south-west, it is approximately north-west of central London. Back to the Beginning is an upcoming concert scheduled to take place on 5 July 2025 at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham, headlined by Black Sabbath. It is intended to be the final concert for both the band and their frontman Ozzy Osbourne, making it Black Sabbath's first live performance in eight years and Osbourne's first in almost three years. It will also mark the first time since the 2005 tour of Ozzfest that the original line-up of the band (Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward) has performed live together.
