Curaçao, officially the Country of Curaçao, is a constituent island country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, located in the southern Caribbean Sea (specifically the Dutch Caribbean region), about north of Venezuela. Curaçao includes the main island of Curaçao and the much smaller, uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao ("Little Curaçao"). Himno Di Kòrsou
The Anthem of Curaçao () is the national anthem of Curaçao. Officially adopted on 26 July 1978, it consists of four verses, although only the first and last are commonly sung. Its theme is best summed up by the first stanza, praising the grandeur of Curaçao, as small as the island may be. History The lyrics were first written by a friar of Dutch origin, Friar Radulphus, in celebration of the coronation of Queen Wilhelmina in 1898. The song was known as "" ("In Every Nation Our Fatherland Is Little Known"). During the celebrations, the pupils of a local elementary school, the St. Jozefschool, sang this to the melody of the German Tyrol, Tyrolean hymn "". It wasn't until the 1930s when Friar Candidus Nouwens composed the melody to which the anthem is sung today. The Netherlands Antillean guilder (; ) is a currency of Curaçao and Sint Maarten, which until 2010 formed the Netherlands Antilles along with Bonaire, Saba (island), Saba, and Sint Eustatius. The Caribbean guilder (code: XCG; abbreviation: Cg; ; ) is a currency of Curaçao and Sint Maarten, two constituent countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It is divided into 100 cents (). Introduced on 31 March 2025, it co-circulates alongside its predecessor, the Netherlands Antillean guilder (ANG), which will cease to be legal tender on 1 July 2025. In November 2020, it was announced that the Caribbean guilder would come into circulation the following year, but it was delayed several times. Gilmar Simon Pisas (born 28 October 1971) is a Curaçaoan politician and the prime minister of Curaçao, serving since 14 June 2021. He previously served as prime minister between 24 March 2017 and 29 May 2017, and as a member of the Parliament of Curaçao until June 2021. Early life and career Pisas was born on 28 October 1971. Charetti Maria America-Francisca (born 13 April 1981) is a politician from Curaçao. She has been the president of Parliament of Curaçao since 11 May 2021. Charetti also served as member of the Estates of Curaçao from 2016 to 2017. Charetti was born and raised in a poor neighborhood in Curaçao, Pretu by De Savaan. The Parliament of Curaçao () on the island of Curaçao, in the Dutch Caribbean region, consists of 21 members, each elected for a four-year term in a general election. The first Parliament was installed on 10 October 2010, following the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles, and consisted of the members of the island council elected on 27 August 2010. Lucille Andrea George-Wout (born 26 February 1950) is a Curaçaoan politician currently serving as the second governor of Curaçao since 4 November 2013. Political career George-Wout was a member of parliament for the Partido MAN in the Island Council of Curaçao in the early 1990s. As a politician for the Party for the Restructured Antilles (PAR), she was speaker of the Parliament of the Netherlands Antilles from 1994 to 1998.
