The Cumbria Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner is the police, fire and crime commissioner, an elected official tasked with setting out the way crime is tackled by Cumbria Police in the English ceremonial county of Cumbria. The post was created in November 2012, as Cumbria Police and Crime Commissioner following an election held on 15 November 2012, and replaced the Cumbria Police Authority. The Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 (c. 13) is an Act of Parliament, Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Richard Rhodes (born 20 April 1942) is a British politician and former teacher. From 2012 to 2016, he was the Conservative Cumbria Police and Crime Commissioner. Early life and education Rhodes was born on 20 April 1942. He was educated at Rossall School, a private school in Rossall, Lancashire. He studied at St John's College, Durham, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Durham in 1963. Cumbria County Council was the county council for the non-metropolitan county of Cumbria in the North West of England.
