Cumberland Line
The Cumberland Line (numbered T5 and coloured magenta) is a commuter rail line operated by Sydney Trains in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It connects Schofields railway station, Schofields and Leppington railway station, Leppington stations in the western suburbs. Limited services extend from Schofields to Richmond railway station, Sydney, Richmond. The line opened in 1996, following the construction of a 'Y-link' track between Harris Park railway station, Harris Park and Merrylands railway station, Merrylands stations. The intention of this link was to allow direct services to operate from the south west suburbs to Parramatta railway station, Parramatta and Blacktown railway station, Blacktown without requiring a change of trains at Granville railway station, Granville. Sydney Trains M Set
The Sydney Trains M sets, also referred to as the Millennium trains, are a class of electric multiple units (EMU) that operate on the Sydney Trains network. Built by EDi Rail between 2002 and 2005, the first sets initially entered service under the CityRail brand on 1 July 2002 after short delays due to electrical defects. The M sets were built as "fourth generation" trains for Sydney's suburban rail fleet, replacing the 1960s Tulloch carriages and providing extra capacity on the suburban rail network. The sets currently operate on the T2 Leppington & Inner West, T3 Liverpool & Inner West, T5 Cumberland, T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown, T7 Olympic Park and T8 Airport & South lines. East Hills Railway Line
The East Hills railway line serves the southern and south-western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. The line opened to East Hills in 1931 and was extended to connect to the Main South Line in 1987. Most services along the line form part of the Airport & South Line operated by Sydney Trains. Alignment The East Hills line branches from the Illawarra Line at Wolli Creek Junction, between Tempe and Arncliffe railway stations. From Wolli Creek, the line heads west towards East Hills, where the alignment is within 2 km of the since-constructed M5 South Western Motorway. It then turns south-west through the new suburbs of Voyager Point and Wattle Grove to meet the Main South line at Glenfield Junction. Sydney Trains T Set
The T sets, also referred to as the Tangara trains, are a class of electric multiple units (EMU) that operate on the Sydney Trains network. Built by UGL Rail, A Goninan & Co, the sets entered service between 1988 and 1995, initially under the State Rail Authority and later on CityRail. The T sets were built as "third-generation" trains for Sydney's rail fleet, coinciding with the final withdrawals of the New South Wales Standard suburban carriage stock, "Red Rattler" sets from service in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The Tangaras were initially built as two classes; the long-distance intercity G sets and the suburban T sets, before being merged after successive refurbishments. The New South Wales H sets, commonly referred to as the OSCAR (Outer Suburban Car) trains, are a class of electric multiple units (EMU) currently operated by Sydney Trains on its intercity routes and some Sydney suburban routes. Built by UGL Rail in Broadmeadow, the H sets first entered service under the CityRail brand in December 2006, with the last in December 2012. Their introduction allowed for the retirement of some second-class V set carriages (second class DCM and DCT carriages). As long-distance trains, the H sets share a similar overall layout and design to the previous Intercity Tangara G sets. Richmond Railway Line
The Richmond railway line is a railway line in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is a branch of the Main Western line. Sydney Trains operates electric passenger train services over the line and markets these as part of the North Shore & Western Line and Cumberland Line. Description of route The railway commences between Seven Hills and Blacktown station on the western line in Sydney's western suburbs. This section of the western line consists of four tracks—two "up" tracks (meaning the direction towards Sydney) and two "down" tracks (meaning the direction away from Sydney). Quakers Hill Railway Station
Quakers Hill railway station is a commuter rail, suburban train station, railway station located on the Richmond railway line, Richmond line, serving the Sydney suburb of Quakers Hill. It is served by Sydney Trains North Shore & Western Line, T1 Western Line and Cumberland Line, T5 Cumberland Line services. History Quakers Hill station opened in 1872 as Douglas Siding. It was renamed Quakers Hill on 30 March 1905 and relocated to its present location on 29 June 1939. Campbelltown Railway Station
Campbelltown railway station is a heritage-listed railway station located on the Main Southern line, serving the Sydney suburb of Campbelltown. It is served by Sydney Trains' T8 Airport & South line services and NSW TrainLink services to Moss Vale, Goulburn, Canberra, Griffith and Melbourne. History Campbelltown Railway Station was briefly the southernmost extent of Great Southern Railway of New South Wales being situated at the end of the Liverpool to Campbelltown railway extension completed in 1858.
