Culture Shock (musician)
James Pountney, better known by his stage name Culture Shock, is a British drum and bass DJ and record producer. Biography In 1996, Culture Shock was introduced to drum and bass while listening to London's pirate radio stations. He set up his own studio with basic equipment at home and recorded his own music. His first release was "The Vega EP" on Moving Shadow in 2004. Two years later, Culture Shock signed with RAM Records after attracting attention of the label's CEO, Andy C. His first EP, titled "The Third Stage" was released in 2007 and featured four tracks, including the track "Rework", co-produced by the Brookes Brothers. After a longer break, he returned in September 2014 with a remix of Moko's "Your Love" and the songs "Troglodyte VIP" and "Raindrops". His song "City Lights", which has featured as an instrumental in his DJ sets since 2009, was picked up by Virgin EMI Records and released in May 2015 with a vocal by Bryn Christopher of I See MONSTAS. Drum And Bass
Drum and bass (commonly abbreviated as DnB, D&B, or D'n'B) is a genre of electronic dance music characterised by fast Break (music)#Breakbeat (element of music), breakbeats (typically 165–185 Tempo, beats per minute) with heavy Bass (music), bass and sub-bass lines, Sampling (music), samples, and synthesizers. The genre grew out of the UK's Jungle music, jungle scene in the 1990s. The popularity of drum and bass at its commercial peak ran parallel to several other UK dance styles. A major influence was the original Jamaican dub music, dub and reggae sound that influenced Jungle music, jungle's bass-heavy sound. Nero (stylised as NERO) are a British electronic music trio composed of members Dan Stephens, Joe Ray and Alana Watson. On 12 August 2011, they released their debut studio album, '' Welcome Reality'', which reached number one in the UK Albums Chart. "Guilt" is a song by British dubstep trio Nero. It was released as a digital download on 22 April 2011 by Chase & Status' record label, MTA Records. Critical reception The song has been generally well received, with Lewis Corner of Digital Spy rating it "5 stars" and naming it a "speaker blowing tune". Tom Casswell, better known as TC and also as Tommy Boy, is an English drum and bass producer, singer and DJ. He left school and started making music inspired by the sounds of the Bristol scene and the music and atmosphere of St. Paul's, the area of Bristol where he grew up. The first two releases from TC "Get It On" and "Make a Little Space" appeared on Bristol based label BS1 Records. His debut album, ''Evolution'', was released in 2007 on D-Style Recordings. TC also presented the latest edition of ''Watch the Ride'', a compilation CD released several times a year. Scratch Perverts and DJ Zinc have released them previously. ''Sub Focus'' is the debut album by British drum and bass producer Sub Focus. It was released on 12 October 2009 through RAM Records. The album primarily features drum and bass tracks, however there are tracks showcasing dubstep, electro, house, breakbeat and trance music elements. "Rock It / Follow the Light" managed to break into the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart. Two later singles, " Could This Be Real" and " Splash", both fell just below, peaking at number 41. The album charted at number 51 on the UK Albums Chart. Nicolaas Douwma (born 13 April 1982), better known by his stage name Sub Focus, is an English DJ, music producer, songwriter and sound engineer. He has been releasing records since 2003. On 12 October 2009, he released his self-titled debut album. He released his second album, ''Torus'', on 30 September 2013.
