Shooting At The 2019 Pan American Games – Men's 10 Metre Air Pistol
Shooting competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru are scheduled to be held between August 8 and 10, 2019 at the Las Palmas Air Base. 15 medal events are scheduled to be contested. Six for men, six for women and three mixed gender events. The men's 50 m pistol, men's 50 m rifle and men's double trap events have been dropped in favour of three mixed gender events. This was done after the International Olympic Committee pushed for gender equal events across all sports. A total of 256 sport shooters will qualify to compete at the games. The top two shooters, not already qualified, in each individual event will qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Erislandy Savón
Erislandy Savón Cotilla (born July 21, 1990) is a Cuban heavyweight amateur boxer. He won the 91 kg/201 lbs title at the 2008 Youth World Amateur Boxing Championships, the 2009 Pan American Championships at Super Heavyweight and also the AIBA World Boxing Championships 2015 and 2017 in Heavyweight. Career Savón who hails from Guantánamo is a nephew of Félix Savón and also a big puncher. He won the Youth World Championships 2008. At the National Championships he lost the 91 kg/201 lbs semifinal 2008 to Osmay Acosta 3:6 and was disqualified in 2009. Roniel Iglesias
Roniel Iglesias Sotolongo (born 14 August 1988) is a Cuban boxer, best known for winning the junior world title at lightweight in 2006, a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and a gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He went on to add to his already impressive Olympic resume by winning another gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo at 33-years-old. Career In 2005, Iglesias won the national (senior) flyweight title as a 16-year-old when Olympic champion Yuriorkis Gamboa was out injured. Boxing competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima were held between July 27th and August 2nd, 2019 at the Miguel Grau Coliseum in the Villa Deportiva Regional del Callao cluster. The competition was split among 15 events, 10 for men and five for women. In 2016, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made several changes to its sports program, which were subsequently implemented for these games. Included in this was the addition of two additional women's boxing events. Medal table Medallists Men Women Jessica Caicedo of originally won the gold medal, but was disqualified for doping violations. Qualification A total of 120 boxers qualified to compete at the games (eight per event). The host nation (Peru) received up to seven automatic qualification spots (five men and two women). Lázaro Jorge Álvarez Estrada (born 28 January 1991) is a Cuban amateur boxer who won the world title in 2011, 2013 and 2015. He also won gold medals at the 2011, 2015, and 2019 Pan American Games and bronze medals at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Olympics. He is a southpaw. Career In the final of 2011 World Championships, he beat Luke Campbell from England after 3 rounds with 14–10 final score. Later that year he also won the 2011 Pan American title vs Mexican Oscar Valdez. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, competing at bantamweight, he beat American Joseph Diaz and Robenílson Vieira of Brazil but lost to Irishman John Joe Nevin 14-19 in the semifinal and won bronze.
