Cuba National Football Team
The Cuba national football team () represents Cuba in men's international football, and is controlled by the Asociación de Fútbol de Cuba (), which is a member of FIFA since 1932 and was a founding member of CONCACAF since 1961. It was also affiliated with NAFC (1946–1955) and later with CCCF (1955–1961), which was the two predecessor confederations of CONCACAF. It was also a member of PFC, the attempt at a unified confederation of the Americas. Nicknamed ''Los Leones del Caribe'' (). They were the first Caribbean team to get to the World Cup Quarter finals – they did so in 1938. There, in the round of 16, they defeated Romania in a replay, 2–1, after drawing against them 3–3. They were then eliminated in the quarter-finals by Sweden, 8–0. Cuba has not returned to the World Cup since. 1947 NAFC Championship
The 1947 NAFC Championship was the first association football championship for the North American Football Confederation (NAFC). The first tournament came soon after the founding of the NAFC. Cuba hosted the tournament which included the host national team, Mexico and the United States. Cuba and Mexico sent their national teams, but rather than forming a team for the competition, the United States Football Soccer Federation chose to send Ponta Delgada S.C., an amateur team from Fall River, Massachusetts. Ponta Delgada had won both the National Challenge Cup and National Amateur Cup, but was unable to compete with Mexico and Cuba. Mexico easily handled both the U.S. and Cuba, defeating the first 5–0 and the second 3–1. Cuba took second place with a 5–2 victory over the United States. 2010 Caribbean Cup Squads
The 2010 Caribbean Championship is an international football tournament that will be held in Martinique from November 26 – December 5. The 8 national teams involved in the tournament are required to register a squad of 20 players; only players in these squads are eligible to take part in the tournament. Before announcing their final squad for the tournament, teams are required to name a preliminary squad of 30 players by 16 November 2010, 10 days before the start of the tournament. 2010 Caribbean Cup
The 2010 Caribbean Cup (also known as Digicel Caribbean Cup 2010 for sponsorship reasons) was the 2010 edition of the Caribbean Championship, an international football championship for national teams affiliated with the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) of the CONCACAF region. The final stage was hosted by Martinique. Martinique were selected as hosts over fellow bidders Guadeloupe and Barbados. The competition was originally scheduled to begin on 18 August with the final match taking place on 28 November. However, at the beginning of August 2010, the CFU released a different schedule that showed the competition being postponed until 2 October. Also, the Bahamas pulled out of the competition, leaving 23 teams. 2007 Caribbean Cup
The 2007 Caribbean Cup (known as the Digicel Caribbean Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the fourteenth edition of the biennial Caribbean Cup, the finals of which were contested in Trinidad and Tobago between 12 January and 23 January 2007. The four semifinalists (Cuba, Guadeloupe, Haiti, and hosts Trinidad and Tobago) qualified for the 2007 edition of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. In all, 24 of the eligible countries participated (5 did not enter and 1 withdrew). Haiti eventually won the tournament despite having to qualify for the finals through a play-off of third-place teams from the second round and finishing second in its final-round group.
