The Crystal Palace Theatre is an early 20th century theatre located in Mount Eden, Auckland, New Zealand listed as a List of category 2 historic places in Auckland, Category 2 building by Heritage New Zealand. Description The Crystal Palace is a neoclassical architecture, neoclassical theatre constructed from brick and plaster. The interior of the theatre has a golden trims with large shells decorating it. The theatre has 700 seats. Initially it had1,250 seats. The theatre is built along a slope, this results in a theatre without stairs. Initially the building had an orchestral pit, proscenium, and coloured lighting. History The Crystal Palace Threatre was built in 1928 by contractor N. Cole for the Hippodrome Theatre Company at a cost of £15,000. On 26 January 1929 it opened its doors to the public with a ceremony conducted by the Mayor of Eden Borough. Neoclassical architecture is an architectural style produced by the Neoclassical movement that began in the mid-18th century in Italy and France. It became one of the most prominent architectural styles in the Western world. The prevailing styles of architecture in most of Europe for the previous two centuries, Renaissance architecture and Baroque architecture, already represented partial revivals of the Classical architecture of ancient Rome and (much less) ancient Greek architecture, but the Neoclassical movement aimed to strip away the excesses of Late Baroque and return to a purer and more authentic classical style, adapted to modern purposes. Andrew Keoghan (born 6 October 1980) is a New Zealand musician and songwriter. Career Keoghan was classically trained in singing. He also plays guitar and violin. His first album ''Arctic Tales Divide'' was released in New Zealand in 2011. Keoghan's music has been described as a mixture of pop and folk-influenced art music. Albert-Eden is a local government area in Auckland, in New Zealand's Auckland Region. It is governed by the Albert-Eden Local Board and Auckland Council, and is located within the council's Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa Ward. Auckland City Council
Auckland City Council was the local government authority for Auckland City, New Zealand, from 1871 to 1 November 2010, when it and Auckland's six other city and district councils were amalgamated to form the Auckland Council. Connan Tant Hosford, better known by the stage name Connan Mockasin and sometimes credited as Connan Hosford, is a New Zealand musician, composer and record producer. Critically acclaimed and described as "a psych-funk oddball...a contrarian", Mockasin has been credited with the 21st century crossover of psychedelic and indie music, and praised for his unique and isolated approach to songwriting. Born in Newtown, Wellington and raised in Te Awanga, Hawke's Bay, Mockasin grew up between rural vineyards, the son of a musician, and went to school in Havelock North. He gained his stage surname from his childhood habit of making mocassin-like shoes out of sheepskin and old motorbike tyres. Michael John Kells Fleetwood (born 24 June 1947) is a British musician, songwriter and occasional actor. He is best known as the drummer, co-founder, and leader of the rock band Fleetwood Mac. Paul Matthews (musician)
Paul Michael Matthews (born 24 October 1978) is a New Zealand musician, songwriter, and record producer based in London (UK). He co-founded I Am Giant in 2008 and is the band's bass guitarist and songwriter. He was also the bass guitarist for New Zealand bands Stylus and Tadpole. Matthews also began producing records in 2002 with Blindspott's Self-titled Triple Platinum debut album. Matthews has since produced music for Six 60, Opshop and Setting Fire to Stacey among others.
