Crystal Kaua
Crystal Kaua (born ) is a New Zealand rugby union coach and former player. Playing career Kaua made the Black Ferns sevens and fifteens trial squads, and also played for the Aotearoa Sevens Māori side. She represented Auckland and Waikato in the Farah Palmer Cup. Coaching career In 2011, Kaua and two of her New Zealand Māori Sevens teammates and Black Ferns, Victoria Grant and Teresa Te Tamaki, helped the University of Waikato Rugby Club make a comeback. Kaua and her husband, Brent, led Hamilton Girls' High School to three consecutive Condor Sevens national titles, and also world youth titles in Hawaii and Japan up to the end of 2015. They then moved to Japan in 2018 and coached there for about four years. Loose Forward (rugby Union)
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. 2023 Super Rugby Aupiki Season
The 2023 Super Rugby Aupiki season was the second season of Super Rugby Aupiki (known as Sky Super Rugby Aupiki for sponsorship reasons), a professional women's rugby union club competition organised by New Zealand Rugby. The competition ran from 25 February 2023when Hurricanes Poua and Chiefs Manawa played the opening match in Levinto 25 March 2023. The tournament was won by Matatū, who defeated Chiefs Manawa 33–31 in the final in Hamilton, earning them their first Super Rugby Aupiki title. That match also resulted in the Chiefs Manawa's first-ever loss in the two-year-old competition. The 2021 Rugby World Cup was the ninth staging of the women's Rugby World Cup, as organised by World Rugby. It was held from 8 October to 12 November 2022 in Auckland and Whangārei, New Zealand. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2021, but was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first women's Rugby World Cup to be hosted by New Zealand, and by a country in the Southern Hemisphere. New Zealand were also the defending champions. The tournament introduced changes such as replacement of classification play-offs in the knockout stage with quarter-finals, and a longer scheduling window with at least five days between matches. The 2022 Farah Palmer Cup season is the 16th season of the competition. The regular season ran from 16 July to 28 August, with the playoffs running from 3 to 10 September. Canterbury won their fifth title after defeating Auckland in the Premiership final and Hawke's Bay won their first Championship title after beating Otago 24–20 at the Clutha Showgrounds in Balclutha. Format The Farah Palmer Cup standings are sorted by a competition points system. Four points are awarded to the winning team, a draw earns two points, whilst a loss amounts to zero points. The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union (''also referred to as "Bay of Plenty" or "BOPRU"'') is the governing body for rugby union in a portion of the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand. The 2022 Super Rugby Aupiki season is the inaugural season of Super Rugby Aupiki. The competition commenced on 10 March between Chiefs Manawa and Matatū. On 20 March, Chiefs Manawa were crowned as the inaugural champions of Super Rugby Aupiki after defeating the Blues Women 35–0 in the final round of the competition. Teams Format All four teams will get three regular season matches; one home, one away, and one Super Round fixture. The top two teams will contest the final. The competition was later reformatted to a round robin fixture due to the impact of COVID-19. All the squads were strongly affected with player isolations and COVID-19 cases. Allan Bunting
Allan Bunting (born 11 February 1975) is a New Zealand rugby union and sevens coach. He previously coached the Black Ferns sevens and was the inaugural head coach of the Chiefs Manawa in the Super Rugby Aupiki competition. He was appointed as the Black Ferns fifteens coach in February 2023. Playing career Between 1999 and 2009 Bunting played for the New Zealand sevens team, the Chiefs, the Bay of Plenty Steamers and Tokyo Gas. Coaching career Bunting was the assistant coach for the Black Ferns Sevens from 2012 to 2016. He has also been the skills coach for the All Blacks Sevens and assistant coach for the Wellington Lions Sevens.
