Crunchyroll Anime Award For Best Director
The Crunchyroll Anime Award for Best Director is an above-the-line award given at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards since its third edition in 2019. It is given for the best directing in anime films and series from the previous year. Winners are determined through a combined voting process by judges and public voting. Science SARU's co-founder Masaaki Yuasa first won the award in 2019 for his direction of ''Devilman Crybaby'', which also awarded the second time in 2021 for his direction of ''Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!'', the first anime director to win twice and currently the oldest director to win. Yuichiro Hayashi is a Japanese anime director and animator. Masaaki Yuasa
is a Japanese director, screenwriter, and animator affiliated with Science SARU, a Japanese animation studio which he co-founded with producer Eunyoung Choi in 2013. Yuasa previously served as president of Science SARU, but stepped down from this role in 2020. Recognized for his idiosyncratic art style and directorial voice, Yuasa began his career as an animator on the landmark television series ''Chibi Maruko-chan'' (1990–1992) and ''Crayon Shin-chan'' (1992–present), before moving into directing with the feature film ''Mind Game (film), Mind Game'' (2004) and developing a cult film, cult appeal following. is a Japanese anime director, animator, storyboard artist, and manga artist. She is best known for her work with Kyoto Animation, particularly as the original director of '' Free!''. Babylon (novel Series)
is a Japanese suspense thriller novel series written by Mado Nozaki and illustrated by Zain. Kiyotaka Suzuki
is a Japanese anime director. He starting working in 2008 and directed his first series in 2014 with ''Psycho-Pass 2''. He later directed '' Infini-T Force'' and ''Babylon''. He also is currently a board member at anime studio Revoroot. Biography Kiyotaka Suzuki was born in Bunkyō, Tokyo, in 1979. is a Japanese animator, storyboard artist, and director. He goes by the alias when working as an episode director and key animator. He is best known as the director of the widely acclaimed anime adaptations of ''Death Note'' and the first three seasons of ''Attack on Titan''. 4th Crunchyroll Anime Awards
The 4th Crunchyroll Anime Awards were held on February 15, 2020, honoring excellence in anime from 2019. Crunchyroll announced the categories and the list of judges for the 2020 awards on December 17, while also noting that the list was still not complete. They also noted that they've increased their judges by over 50%, with more than half of them coming from outside the United States. Nominees were announced on the first day of voting, January 10. Violet Evergarden
