Croydon City Arrows is an Australian soccer club based in Croydon, Victoria, currently playing in the 5th tier of the Victorian association football structure and the seventh tier nationally. The club was established 1957 and has won two Victorian titles, in 1985 and 1986, and plays at the Dorset Recreational Reserve. The club was briefly known as Maroondah Arrows in 1997 and 1998. Croydon City Arrows senior men's team currently participates in the Victorian State League Division 3 East. The Victorian State League, known as VETO Sports State League for sponsorship purposes is an Australian soccer league based in Victoria that was founded in 1958 and administered by Football Victoria. Croydon, Victoria
Croydon is an eastern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Maroondah local government area. Croydon recorded a population of 28,608 at the 2021 census. History Dating back to 1840 the land was first utilised by settlers for grazing and the first road cut through the area now known as Croydon, was initially known as Sawmill Road, as a sawmill was nearby. Later it became known as Oxford Road and later Mt Dandenong Road, some time in the early 1900s. Owing to the coarse silvery-white grass, the area now known as Croydon was first called "White Flats". The Victorian Premier League (VPL) is an Australian soccer league based in Victoria that was founded in 2023 and administered by Football Victoria. It consists of two divisions that were named after the VPL's breakaway of the National Premier Leagues Victoria (NPL Victoria) second and third divisions, which had run in the NPL Victoria system from 2014 until 2023. Daniel Lee Allsopp (born 10 August 1978) is an Australian former professional soccer player who played as a forward. As a player, he notably played for Manchester City for several seasons and was part of their team that earned promotion back to the Premier League in 2000, He also spending time on loan with Notts County, Wrexham and Bristol Rovers. Jimmy Rooney
James Rooney (born 10 December 1945) is a former professional footballer who played as a left winger. Born in Scotland, he played for the Australia national team at international level and was member of the squad at the 1974 FIFA World Cup. Biography Rooney played first-team football with Lochee Harp, Peterborough United and Montrose F.C. in the United Kingdom, before emigrating to Melbourne, Australia in the late 1960s. He was an instant success there with Ukrainian Essendon Lions before transferring to Sydney to join the Prague club in 1970, and later playing at APIA Leichhardt, in the New South Wales First Division. Peter Ollerton
Peter Ollerton (born 20 May 1951 in Preston, Lancashire, England is a former Australian soccer forward who represented Australia 31 times in full international matches between 1974 and 1977, scoring 15 goals. He was a member of the Australian 1974 World Cup squad in West Germany and also represented the state of Victoria. Playing career Club career After playing youth football for Blackpool and Preston North End, Ollerton played for Fleetwood. Ollerton joined Ringwood Wilhelmina in 1971. Paul Wade (born 20 March 1962) is an Australian retired soccer player, who is best known for his long-term role as captain of the national team. Club career Born in Cheshire, England, Wade moved to Australia with his parents at age 11.
