Crowders Mountain State Park
Crowders Mountain State Park is a North Carolina state park in Gaston County, North Carolina in the United States. It is near Kings Mountain, North Carolina and on the outskirts of Gastonia, North Carolina, it includes the peaks of Crowder's Mountain and The Pinnacle. Crowders Mountain is named for Crowders Creek which originates near its base. The cliffs are a popular destination for rock climbers. Features The mountain itself is a monadnock, an isolated erosional remnant that rises abruptly from the surrounding plain. Geologically, Crowders Mountain and The Pinnacle are Class 6 mountains, defined as rising at least above the lowest point within a radius. The State of North Carolina has a group of protected areas known as the North Carolina State Park System, which is managed by the North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation (NCDPR), an agency of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDNCR). Crowders Mountain
Crowders Mountain is one of two main peaks within Crowders Mountain State Park, the other peak being The Pinnacle. The park is located in the Western Piedmont of North Carolina between the cities of Kings Mountain and Gastonia or about west of Charlotte. Crowders Mountain abruptly rises nearly above the surrounding terrain, and has an elevation of 1,625 feet (495 m) above sea level. The monadnock is named for Crowders Creek, which originates near its base. The original namesake of Crowders Creek is unknown, but mostly likely lived farther south along Crowders Creek. Kings Mountain National Military Park is a National Military Park near Blacksburg, South Carolina, along the North Carolina/South Carolina border. The park commemorates the Battle of Kings Mountain, a pivotal and significant victory by American Patriots over American Loyalists during the Southern Campaign of the Revolutionary War. Kings Mountain State Park is a South Carolina state park located in the Piedmont region of South Carolina. It is situated in York County near the city of Blacksburg, about southwest of Charlotte, North Carolina near Interstate 85. This large hilly park includes the Living History Farm, which is representative of a typical early 19th-century Piedmont farm. It includes a barn, cotton gin, blacksmith, and carpenter shop.
