Crosshill F.C.
Crosshill Football Club was a 19th-century football club based in Glasgow. History The club was founded in 1873, under the name Woodbank. The club's first recorded match took place in September 1873, being a 0–0 draw against Queen's Park Juniors. Its first recorded win came the next year against the Regent Park, thanks to a George Munro hat-trick. The club was running two XIs by the end of the season. The club changed its name to Crosshill in February or March 1875. Under the Crosshill name, the club entered the 1876–77 Scottish Cup, the only time it would enter the competition. In the first round, Crosshill won 2–1 at Hyde Park Locomotive Works of Cowlairs, with goals from Munro and club secretary McTavish. In the second round (last 41), the club drew 0–0 at home to Govan side Lancefield, but lost 2–0 in the replay. 1876–77 Scottish Cup
The 1876–77 Scottish Cup – officially the Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup – was the fourth season of Scotland's most prestigious Association football, football knockout competition. Entries to the competition again increased with a total of 81 clubs involved in the first round draw. This resulted in an earlier start to the competition than in previous seasons with the first matches played on 23 September 1876. The cup was won for the first time by Dunbartonshire club Vale of Leven F.C., Vale of Leven who defeated Rangers F.C., Rangers 3–2 in a twice-replayed final. Neilson And Company
Neilson and Company was a locomotive manufacturer in Glasgow, Scotland. The company was started in 1836 at McAlpine Street by Walter Neilson and James Mitchell to manufacture marine and stationary engines. In 1837 the firm moved to Hyde Park Street and was known as Kerr, Mitchell and Neilson and, in 1840, Kerr, Neilson and Company, becoming Neilson and Mitchell in 1843. Locomotive building began in 1843 for the local railways. In 1855 production of marine and stationary engines discontinued and the company changed its name again to Neilson and Company. Among those who later became notable in the field were Henry Dübs and Patrick Stirling. By 1861, business had increased to such an extent, that a new works was built at Springburn, also named "Hyde Park Works." Lancefield is a town in the Shire of Macedon Ranges local government area in Victoria, Australia north of the state capital, Melbourne, 33.6km south of Puckapunyal and had a population of at least 2,743 at the 2021 census. History The area was used by the indigenous aboriginal people as a quarry site for the manufacture of stone axes and was first settled by European squatters in 1837. The main source of these stone tools was at Mount William, to the northeast of Lancefield. A Lancefield Post Office opened on 16 January 1858 in the Romsey/Five Mile Creek area, to the south. Queen's Park (, ) is a park situated on the south side of the city of Glasgow, Scotland, between Strathbungo, Shawlands, Battlefield, Mount Florida, and Crosshill. The park lies about south of the city centre, and gives its name to a nearby railway station and several other local businesses and institutions, including the football team Queen's Park FC. History The lands of the park were part of the lands of Langside, belonging to the Maxwells of Pollok. During the 17th Century, the western part was sold to form Camphill Farm.
