Murder Of Marion Crofts
The murder of Marion Crofts is a British child murder case which occurred on 6 June 1981, in which a 14-year-old girl was abducted, raped, then bludgeoned and strangled to death while cycling from her home in Fleet, Hampshire to the town of Farnborough. Her body was discovered concealed in undergrowth alongside a canal towpath within hours of her murder. Despite an intense contemporary investigation, her murder remained unsolved for twenty-one years until advances in DNA analysis enabled investigators to identify her murderer as a 44-year-old security guard and former soldier named Tony Jasinskyj, who had been stationed at Aldershot Garrison—less than two miles (3.2 km) from the site of Crofts' murder—at the time of her death. William Crofts, 1st Baron Crofts (c.1611–1677) was an English baron and Gentleman of the Bedchamber to Charles II of England, Charles II. Life He was the son of Henry Crofts, Sir Henry Crofts, MP, of Little Saxham, Suffolk. He moved to court c.1630 as a servant of Queen Henrietta Maria, the consort of Charles I of England, Charles I. The lady in waiting to Elizabeth Stuart, Queen of Bohemia known as "Margaret Crofts" has sometimes been identified as his sister. However, the will of Margaret Croft from Herefordshire seems to identify her as this royal servant. William Crofts carried letters to the court of Elizabeth of Bohemia. In 1644 his brother was shot in the head by the queen's court dwarf Jeffrey Hudson. Henrietta Maria wrote to Cardinal Mazarin to intercede for Hudson's life. William Carr Crofts
William Carr Crofts (1846–1894) was an English architect and entrepreneur who was a photographic pioneer. History Crofts was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire and became an architect. With his cousin, Wordsworth Donisthorpe, he was one of the founders of the Liberty and Property Defence League in 1882. In 1890 he and Donisthorpe were able to produce a moving picture of London's Trafalgar Square. In 1891 with Donisthorpe he was awarded a patent for a camera capable of producing instantaneous photographs. At the time Crofts was a gentleman living at Westminster Chambers, Victoria Street. Crofts' brother, Ernest Crofts, was a rather successful painter. In fact, at circa 1888 one of Ernest Crofts' paintings titled "Marston Moor" had been exhibited at the Royal Academy of Art in London; it is speculated that the Ernest Crofts painting of the battle scene is what may have truly inspired Donisthorpe and W.C. Thomas Crofts
The Reverend and Learned Thomas Crofts FRS FSA (1722 – 8 November 1781) was a British bibliophile, Anglican priest, Fellow of the Royal Society and European traveller. Early life Crofts was born in Monmouth, Wales and was the son of John Crofts. At the age of 17 he matriculated at Wadham College, Oxford. The University of Oxford awarded him the degree Bachelor of Arts in February 1743 and the degree Master of Arts in 1746. The Grand Tour In the following 20 years Crofts alternated between the closeted life of a Fellow of an Oxford College and at least three extended tours of Europe. On one such visit (1758–1759) he accompanied a young Oxford Graduate, Thomas Knight, a cousin and future benefactor of the family of Jane Austen the novelist, on the Grand Tour. Steven John Croft (born 11 October 1984) is an English former first-class cricketer who played for Lancashire County Cricket Club from 2005 until 2024. He bats right-handed and can bowl both medium-fast and off breaks. In 2008 Croft was given the Lancashire members' Player of the Year and One-Day Player of the Year awards. Stella Rebecca Crofts
Stella Rebecca Crofts (9 January 1898 – 1964) was a British artist who had a prolific career creating paintings, sculpture and pottery. Biography Crofts was born in Nottingham and raised at Ilford in Essex. Due to extended periods of ill-health as a child, Crofts was largely home-schooled before studying at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in central London from 1916 to 1922 and then spending a year at the Royal College of Art where she studied pottery and sculpture. After graduating, Crofts returned to Essex and set up a studio with a kiln. She first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1925 and went on to have works shown in Venice, Milan and Toronto. In Paris, Crofts was awarded a silver medal at the Exposition des Arts Decoratifs in 1925. Crofts was elected an Associate of the Society of Women Artists in 1924, becoming a full member in 1925 and exhibiting over 200 works at the Society during her career.
