Critter Of The Week
''Critter of the Week'' is a weekly RNZ National programme about endangered and neglected native plants and animals of New Zealand. Beginning in 2015, ''Critter of the Week'' is an approximately 15-minute discussion between Nicola Toki (originally the Department of Conservation Threatened Species Ambassador) and RNZ Afternoons host Jesse Mulligan on an "uncharismatic and lovable" New Zealand species. Despite its name, the show features animals, plants, and fungi, with each species receiving an "attractiveness" score from 1 to 10. The show currently airs on Friday afternoons, and has a regular listenership of 100,000. Bake-off
A cook-off is a cooking competition where the contestants each prepare dishes for judging either by a select group of judges or by the general public. Cook-offs are very popular among competitors (such as restaurants) with very similar dishes, such as chili, and serves as a way to decide which recipe is the best for that particular dish. Chili cook-off A chili cook-off is a social event, similar to a barbecue, in which competitors prepare their own particular recipe for chili con carne and submit it for taste testing. A cook-off may be an informal gathering with the simple goal of sharing recipes and enjoying food, or it may be a large-scale event with an official panel of judges and substantial prizes for winners. Outreach
Outreach is the activity of providing services to any population that might not otherwise have access to those services. Mike Dickison
Michael R. Dickison (born ) is a New Zealand museum curator, zoology, zoologist and Wikipedia editor. He was New Zealand's first Wikipedian at Large, in 2018–19, receiving a grant from the Wikimedia Foundation. Early life Dickison grew up in Christchurch. His father was an apprentice boilermaker, and his mother was a homemaker. His father encouraged his interest in curating and collecting. Dickison gained a PhD in zoology from Duke University in 2007. His thesis, dissertation subject was the allometry of giant flightless birds. Career Dickison was curator of natural history at the Whanganui Regional Museum from 2013 to 2018. In 2015, he led an effort to mount the museum's collection of more than 2000 bones and 10 articulated moa skeletons. He became interested in Wikipedia in 2009.
