Criterion, Oregon
Criterion is an historic Unincorporated area#United States, unincorporated community in Wasco County, Oregon, Wasco County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It lies along U.S. Route 197 between Maupin, Oregon, Maupin and Madras, Oregon, Madras. Nearby is Criterion Summit, which at about above sea level is the highest point along the highway between The Dalles, Oregon, The Dalles to the north and Redmond, Oregon, Redmond to the south. In the late 19th century, the route over the summit was a wagon road linking The Dalles to Lakeview, Oregon, Lakeview and California. A post office was established there in 1913. The name comes from the dictionary word meaning a "standard by which to judge quality". The founder who proposed the name linked it to the idea of a model community. A criterium, or crit, is a bike race consisting of several laps around a closed circuit, the length of each lap or circuit ranging from about 400 m to 10,000 m. Overview Race length can be determined by a number of laps or total time, in which case the number of remaining laps is calculated as the race progresses. Generally the event's duration (commonly one hour) is shorter than that of a traditional road race — which can last many hours, sometimes over the course of several days or even weeks, as in a Grand Tour. However, the average speed and intensity are appreciably higher. The winner is the first rider to cross the finish line without having been "lapped". Criterion Capital Partners LLC, also known as simply Criterion, was a private equity fund based in Los Angeles, California. It was best known for being the owner of Bebo, from 2010 to 2013. History Christopher Lord co-founded the company in 2002. Criterion acquired social networking service Bebo in 2010. Bebo was previously owned by AOL, who originally purchased the service for $850 million in 2008. The acquisition had failed as Bebo's business was declining. Criteria Studios is a recording studio in North Miami, Florida, founded in 1958 by musician Mack Emerman. Hundreds of gold, platinum, and diamond singles and albums have been recorded, mixed or mastered at Criteria, for many notable artists and producers. Criteria (band)
Criteria is an indie rock band from Omaha, Nebraska, formed in 2003 when ex-Cursive founding member Steve Pedersen returned to his hometown after graduating from the Duke University School of Law. He spent six months in a friend's basement where he wrote all ten songs for his new project's debut album. He recruited the help of some old friends, A.J. Mogis (of Presto! Recording Studios and Lullaby for the Working Class) on bass guitar, Aaron Druery on guitar, and Mike Sweeney of Beep Beep on drums. Their first album, '' En Garde'', was released on his previous band's label, Initial Records. Steve Pedersen worked as a lawyer, making it hard for the band to promote their album. Initial Records went bankrupt about a year after, leaving Criteria without a label. Saddle Creek Records took their longtime friend in and put out three releases in 2005.
