Cristina Gutierrez
Maria Cristina Gutierrez (February 28, 1951 – January 30, 2004) was an American criminal defense attorney based in Baltimore, Maryland, who represented several high-profile defendants in the 1990s. She was the first Latina to be counsel of record in a case before the Supreme Court of the United States. In 2001, Gutierrez was disbarred, with her consent, following multiple complaints from clients who paid her for legal work she failed to perform. At the time, Gutierrez was dying from a combination of multiple sclerosis and diabetes, and her health was rapidly deteriorating. She served as trial counsel for Adnan Syed, the Baltimore-area teenager who was convicted in 2000 of murdering his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee and was sentenced to life in prison. The controversial case gained renewed national attention in 2014 after being the subject of the first season of the podcasts ''Serial''. Woodlawn High School (WHS) is a four-year public high school in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. The school opened in the fall of 1961. Oakland Mills High School
Oakland Mills High School was established in 1973 as one of the first high schools to serve the planned developed new U.S. town of Columbia, Maryland area, established by James Rouse and his Rouse Company in 1967 in Howard County, midway between Baltimore and Washington, D.C. It is part of the Howard County Public Schools system (HCPSS). The building had its first renovation in 1991, and another in 1998. A new addition was put onto OMHS in 2004, the "new wing," raising its total capacity to 1,400 students. Recently, both Oakland Mills High School and Oakland Mills Middle School were affected by a mold issue which required renovations to both schools. While Oakland Mills High has not needed more renovations, after Oakland Mills Middle suffered a fire early January 2016, it was discovered that the mold issue was not solved and required more renovations.
