Crispiniano Quiñones Quiñones (born in Aguachica, Cesar, died February 27, 2000) was a Colombian Army General. At the time of his retirement from active duty in 1993, his rank was Brigadier General, and he served as Commander of the 13th Brigade, headquartered in Bogotá. He was assassinated in La Vega, Cundinamarca on February 27, 2000, by members of FARC. He is largely credited with being one of the founders of the Colombian Army Special Forces, along with then-Captain Ramon E. Niebles Uscategui. Additionally, he was a founding member of the Colombian Army's 1st Mobile Brigade, a corps designed to fight the increasing threat of FARC and other guerrilla groups, and a founding member of the Aviation Brigade of the Colombian Army. Aguachica
Aguachica (), is a city and municipality in the southern region of the Cesar Department, Colombia, located between the inter-Andean valley of Magdalena River Valley, Magdalena Medio and the Serranía del Perijá, Motilones. It is the second most populated municipality in the department and an important livestock and commercial center in the southeast of the Caribbean region of Colombia, Colombian Caribbean. In terms of transportation infrastructure, its geographically strategic position connects the Colombian Caribbean with the Santanderes through the Ruta del Sol, and is also a key communication point for the Catatumbo region via National Route 70. Neiva
Neiva () is the capital and most populated city of the Department of Huila, south central Colombia. It is located in the valley of the Magdalena River with a municipal population of 388,299. It is one of the most important cities in southern Colombia, mainly because of its strategic geographical location. History Neiva was first founded in 1539 by Juan de Cabrera in an area now belonging to the municipality of Campoalegre. In 1550, Juan de Alonso y Arias relocated the city to the place that is now the municipality of Villavieja. At this location, the city was destroyed by indigenous tribes in 1560. Airborne forces are ground combat units carried by aircraft and airdropped into battle zones, typically by parachute drop. Parachute-qualified infantry and support personnel serving in airborne units are also known as paratroopers. The main advantage of airborne forces is their ability to be deployed into combat zones without a land passage, as long as the airspace is accessible. Formations of airborne forces are limited only by the number and size of their transport aircraft; a sizeable force can appear "out of the sky" behind enemy lines in merely hours if not minutes, an action known as ''vertical envelopment''.
