Ernest Crichlow
Ernest Crichlow (June 19, 1914 – November 10, 2005) was an American social realist artist. Early life and career Crichlow was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1914 to Barbadian immigrants. He studied art at the School of Commercial Illustrating and Advertising Art in New York and New York University. Crichlow started work as an artist in a studio sponsored by Works Progress Administration's Federal Art Project. Augusta Savage was an early patron of his work, as was the case for many of the artists of the Harlem Renaissance. Career His first exhibition was in 1938 in the Harlem Community Center in Harlem, New York. One of his best known works, the lithograph ''Lovers III'' shows a young black woman being harassed in her bedroom by a member of the Ku Klux Klan. Frank Crichlow
Frank Gilbert Crichlow (13 July 1932 – 15 September 2010) was a British community activist and civil rights campaigner, who became known in 1960s London as a godfather of black radicalism. His restaurant, The Mangrove in All Saints Road, served for many years as the base from which activists, musicians, and artists organised the event. Herbert Crichlow (born 26 November 1968) is a four-time ASCAP-awarded British music producer and songwriter living in Sweden. Born in England and raised in Barbados, he is best known for his multiple diamond, platinum and gold awarded works. Nathaniel “Natty” Elliott Crichlow (12 May 1922 – 18 September 2006) was born in Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago, and educated at the Tunapuna Roman Catholic School. He was President of the National Union of Government Employees (NUGE) from 1957 and became the first President General of the National Union of Government and Federated Workers (NUGFW) on the merger of the NUGE and the Federated Workers Trade Union in 1967. It was a position he held until his retirement in 1985. His involvement in the broader trade union movement saw him being President of the Trinidad and Tobago Labour Congress from 1970 to 1974, 1st Vice President from 1974 to 1976 and a subsequent term as 2nd Vice President.
