Crave (Cyclefly Album)
''Crave'' is the second album from the band Cyclefly, released on 8 April 2002. The album, originally called ''Tales from the Fish Bowl'', had a vote by fans to decide the album art. Reception Andy Capper of NME wrote an astonishingly scathing one-star review of the album, decrying it as "a turgid, tuneless, completely crass piece of mix and match nu-metal" and describing the vocals as "whiny and useless", while also referring to fans of the nu metal genre as " wankers" and attacking them for being allegedly unintelligent and "easy to swindle". A far less derisive review came from Harry Guerin, speaking from RTÉ, who highlighted the acoustic content of the record over the heavier material and expressed optimism in the band's future endeavours: "''Crave'' is very much a case of a band with a work in progress sign hanging over their heads". Cyclefly
Cyclefly were an alternative rock band from Cork, Ireland, and Antibes, France. The band toured on both sides of the Atlantic many times, including headline and support tours with Bush, Live, Linkin Park, and Iggy Pop. The band also played at a number of major music festivals, including Reading and Leeds Festivals, Woodstock 99, and Ozzfest. They released two full-length albums; the critically acclaimed '' Generation Sap'' in 1999, recorded in the Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California, which was produced by Sylvia Massy, and ''Crave'' in 2002, produced by Colin Richardson, Bill Appleberry and Tobias Miller. ''Crave'' also featured a guest vocal spot on "Karma Killer" from Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington. In the early 2000s, the band dissolved with members moving to a band called Hueman. Alternative Metal
Alternative metal (also known as alt-metal) is a genre of heavy metal music that combines heavy metal with influences from alternative rock and other genres not normally associated with metal. Alternative metal bands are often characterized by heavily downtuned, mid-paced guitar riffs, a mixture of accessible melodic vocals and harsh vocals and sometimes unconventional sounds within other heavy metal styles. Nu Metal
Nu metal (sometimes stylized as nü-metal, sometimes called aggro-metal) is a subgenre of that combines elements of heavy metal music with elements of other music genres such as hip hop, alternative rock, funk, industrial, and grunge. Radioactive Records
Radioactive Records was an American record label. It was formed as a joint venture between talent manager Gary Kurfirst (who managed such acts as the Ramones, Big Audio Dynamite, Deee-Lite and Deborah Harry) and MCA Records, and it is now out of business. Its catalogue is now owned by Geffen Records and licensed through Universal Music Enterprises. Acts on the label included Live, Black Grape, the Ramones, Big Audio Dynamite, Talking Heads, Eurythmics, Traci Lords, and Angelfish (Shirley Manson—Manson joined Garbage courtesy of Gary Kurfirst). MCA Records was an American record label owned by MCA Inc., which later became part of Universal Music Group. Pre-history MCA Inc., a powerful talent agency and a television production company, entered the recorded music business in 1962 with the purchase of the New York-based US Decca Records (established in 1934), including Coral Records and Brunswick Records.
