''Craps (After Hours)'' is the second album by American comedian Richard Pryor, released in 1971 on the Laff Records label. History ''Craps (After Hours)'', like his other early-1970s albums '' Richard Pryor'' and '' Live At The Comedy Store, 1973'', captures Pryor during his most transformative period as a comic, when he evolved from a family-friendly comic in the mode of Bill Cosby into the challenging, politically aware comedian of his most famous albums. In the early 1970s, Pryor moved to Berkeley, California, and had begun to consciously immerse himself in black culture and history, educating himself through conversations with writers and revolutionaries such as Angela Davis, Black Panther Huey Newton, and Ishmael Reed. In contrast to his earlier career performing for mostly white audiences, he began working at Redd Foxx's club in a black neighborhood of Los Angeles, where he felt free to talk about issues of politics and race without restraint. Richard Franklin Lennox Thomas Pryor Sr. (December 1, 1940 – December 10, 2005) was an American stand-up comedian and actor. He reached a broad audience with his trenchant observations and storytelling style, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential stand-up comedians of all time. Pryor won a Primetime Emmy Award and five Grammy Awards. He received the first Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 1998. He won the Writers Guild of America Award in 1974. Laff Records was a small American independent record label specializing in mainly African-American comedy and party records founded in 1967 in Los Angeles. Kliph Nesteroff, author of the book ''The Comedians'', wrote that "no other company cranked out as many comedy LPs during the 1970s. While much of its content was undeniably amateurish, it documented a subculture most comedy fans were unaware existed." It is most well known for releasing a series of Richard Pryor albums, mostly without Pryor's participation or approval, which earned the label several Grammy nominations and one win. History Laff Records was founded in 1967 in Los Angeles by jewelry-store owner Lou Drozen; his son David Drozen joined in 1969 as vice president and producer of many of its albums. Chortle is a British comedy website launched in 2000 by Steve Bennett. The site is a major source of comedy news in the UK. It also reviews comedy shows nationwide, including extensively at the annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and presents the Chortle Awards to honour the best stand-up comics working in the UK. In recent years, the site has also branched out into events promotion. History Prior to starting Chortle, Bennett, who graduated from Oxford University, had been working as a local newspaper editor for the Informer group of free newspapers in Surrey and West London. Scott Alexander (born June 16, 1963) and Larry Karaszewski (; born November 20, 1961) are an American screenwriting team. They are best known for writing postmodern biopics with larger-than-life characters. They coined the term "anti-biopic" to describe the genre they invented: Movies about people who don't deserve one. They are uninterested in the traditional "great man" story, focusing instead on obscure strivers in American pop culture. They met at the University of Southern California where they were freshman roommates; they graduated from the School of Cinematic Arts in 1985.
