Craig Cranmer
Craig Cranmer is a Scottish former footballer who played as a defender. Cranmer was a youth player with Duntocher Boys Club from 1976 to 1986, during which time they won the Scottish Juvenile Cup and the Scottish Youth Football Cup at Hampden Park. He joined Dumbarton in 1987, making 27 first team appearances in the Scottish Football League until 1989. After a spell with Renfrew he then returned to the senior level and joined Partick Thistle for a season, but left without making a first team appearance before joining Albion Rovers for season 1991-92, making 13 league appearances. After a break from playing due to work commitments he joined Pollok Juniors where he made over 120 first team appearances and scored over 20 goals. During his time at Pollok he won the Scottish Junior Cup in 1997 and was capped for Scotland Juniors in 1998 at the International Tournament in Sligo, Ireland. The Scottish Football League Second Division was the third tier of the Scottish football league system between 1975 and 2013. History The Second Division was created in 1975, as part of a wider reconstruction of the Scottish Football League (SFL). Prior to 1975, the SFL had been split into two divisions (Division One and Division Two). The effect of the reconstruction was to split these two divisions into three, with the top flight named the Premier Division, second tier the First Division, and a new third tier was created known as the Second Division. A fourth tier, known as the Third Division, was created in 1994. In 1998, the Premier Division clubs broke away from the SFL to form the Scottish Premier League (SPL). The 1995–96 season was the 99th season of competitive football in Scotland. Scottish Premier Division Summary Rangers won the Premier Division with a record 87 points, finishing four ahead of rivals Celtic. Aberdeen were third with 55 points (on goal difference). Falkirk were relegated after finishing bottom. Partick Thistle were relegated via the play-offs, losing 3–2 on aggregate to Dundee United, who returned to the Premier Division at the first attempt. This was the only occasion on which this short-lived play-off system relegated a team from the Premier Division. Rangers qualified for the European Cup, with Celtic and Aberdeen making it into the UEFA Cup. All three clubs entered at the qualifying round stage.
