Craig Carpenito
Craig Carpenito (born August 1, 1973) is an American lawyer who served as the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey. On January 5, 2018, Carpenito was appointed U.S. Attorney pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 546 by US Attorney General Jeff Sessions. On April 27, 2018, the judges of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey unanimously appointed Carpenito U.S. Attorney pursuant to their statutory powers. He resigned on January 5, 2021. He previously served as a federal prosecutor in the office from 2003 to 2008. On June 19, 2020, Attorney General William Barr announced that Carpenito would serve as acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York starting July 3, to replace Geoffrey Berman. However, Berman, whose office had overseen investigations involving President Trump, refused to step down. The U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey is the chief federal law enforcement officer in New Jersey. Since March 24, 2025, Alina Habba has served as acting U.S. attorney. Walter Forbes (born 1942/43) is an American corporate executive best known for his role as CEO of CUC International and his involvement in one of the largest corporate scandals of the 1990s. Walter Forbes was the CEO of CUC International from 1981-1997. CUC was a membership-based consumer services conglomerate with travel, shopping, auto, dining, home improvement and financial services. Under Forbes' leadership, CUC was considered an e-commerce pioneer. Monroe Township is a township located in southern Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The township is centrally located within the Raritan Valley region and is an outer-ring suburb of New York City within the New York metropolitan area. The Fort Lee lane closure scandal, better known as Bridgegate, was a political scandal in the U.S. state of New Jersey in 2013 and 2014. It involved a staff member and political appointees of then-governor Chris Christie colluding to create traffic jams in Fort Lee, New Jersey by closing lanes at the main toll plaza for the upper level of the George Washington Bridge. On September 9, 2013, two of three toll lanes for a local street entrance were closed during morning rush hour.
